Type 2 Erratic, but rising blood glucose levels.

Thanks Jo. Yes, should have mentioned I've no experience of hypo's before the Glic. So far all conversations with the DSN about Glic have concluded with either 'increase your dose by another tablet' :banghead::banghead:or 'have a banana at lunchtime' :banghead::banghead: I agreed to move to 2...

Type 2 Erratic, but rising blood glucose levels.

I seem to be in a very similar place but don't have have any answers, sorry. I'm now on Gliclazide and low carbing (not Keto levels). My HbA1C and my daily numbers are just rising. 10g - 20g of carbs in a meal shoots my post meal numbers up to 18 at 2 hours, taking up to 5 hours to get back...

Type 2 Snacks after Blood Donation

From your user name I assume you are in Italy! Maybe the rules are different. I love that you still go along and agree that blood donors are generally nice people :) Never seen any seasoned cheese or sausages offered by the NHS here :D that would be awesome!

Type 2 Snacks after Blood Donation

Thanks all. It was my first attempt at giving blood since my diagnosis. I did the health questions over the phone when I made the appointment. They did ask lots of questions, I can't remember them all but a few around medication and foot problems, I'm not on meds and don't have any...

Type 2 Snacks after Blood Donation

Sorry if this has been asked before, did a search but could not find anything. I was due to donate blood yesterday but it turned out I had not had enough clear days since finishing a course of antibiotics. Before leaving the house I had thrown some nuts, cheese and an avocado :D in my bag for...

Soup thickener (is there any diabetes friendly?)

A good chunk of Brie or Camembert with the rind on does a goodish job. Only good if you like the taste, of course!

"Very Early Diabetes" What is it?

There is a stage called pre-diabetes (HbA1C between 42 - 47 if I remember correctly!). As pp said any number of 48 or above is Diabetic. Well done on getting your number down to 52, that's where I am at the moment but from a lower start point (69). I suppose the GP might have meant it was...

    Peer Pressure

Around alcohol - all the time! I have been alcohol free for over 15 years now (a combination of factors saw me give it up). Even after 15 years I am still bemused by the way friends, family and strangers will try to pressure me into having an alcoholic drink :banghead: I've not wanted or...

Recently diagnosed T2 and confused :( do not know where to start

Fantastic you are giving it another go. [emoji3] I have many barriers to my LCHF diet - I work away from home during the week and throughout my working life I have always eaten out for lunch most days, I can't do that anymore and need to be super organised to bring lunch in. At home I do as...

Newcomer - late to the game

I'm fairly new here but a Hb1AC of 54 represents a diagnosis of Diabetes not pre Diabetes (42 - 48). Most of my snacks come from the 'high fat' bowl :) - pork scratchings, nuts, individual cheese portions and avocado. Like others have said I think you need to look at your Carb intake, seems...

Type 2 Can you interpret my Cholesterol results?

No didn't get a Trig level - wasn't asked to fast for the test. I'm wondering if maybe the surgery has more information than I was given in the printout so will need to wait until the end of the month for the rearranged appointment to find out. I just need to be a bit more informed as I am...

Latest Results - the good and the not so good

My clinic appointment to pick up my results was cancelled on the morning :arghh: of the appointment so I got a print out but have not discussed them with my DN. The good - my HbA1C is down from 69 to 52 :) I can't work out much about my Cholesterol from the numbers given (have a thread on...

Type 2 Can you interpret my Cholesterol results?

My Diabetes review clinic appointment for today was cancelled / rescheduled with only a few hours notice today :arghh: Anyway I requested a print out of the blood test results. To my knowledge my Cholesterol has not been tested before so I don't have a baseline to compare. My results were...

    Big thanks to Diabetes.co.uk

I should have taken part in the North East and Cumbria edition but on the day of filming I was so ill with an Asthma attack I could barely breathe, talking and breathing was a challenge too far :)

How long did you think you had diabetes before diagnosis?

I really don't know :):) Diagnosed T2 in July this year. Had been peri menopause since 2012 but had moved to menopause by 2016. Sort of a routine appointment discussing HRT (had been asking for it for over 12 months - whole other story of being let down by the NHS there!) Anyway a Dr finally...

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

The reason given on the DESMOND course was - you are not going to hypo therefore you don't need to test :banghead:

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

Haven't read the whole thread :) I attended my DESMOND course this week. 6 of us on the course and I was the only one testing :wideyed: One of the educators had a particularly venomous attitude about testing. In fact her last (shouted!) words to us as we were leaving the room were 'and do...

Type 2 Prednisolone and BG rises - what to expect

Just did the 5.5 hrs test and it is stable at 12.6. Definitely slow release then :) Think I will keep testing until I see a drop and then take the next 4 doses early evening and let it do it's worst ;) and not test anymore! Not wishing to wade into the drugs in Sport debate but I have had...
