New Type 2 Diabetes Drug Effective In Lowering Blood Sugar And Aiding Weight Loss

It's just been suggested that I give this medication a try because I'm not getting along too well with the usual stuff. Looks encouraging to me and I'm not usually one to react with side effects like that. I start next week so we shall see! I could also do with losing some weight as well! :)

Type 2 Do you know what I mean when I say 'maggoty' feeling?

What is this? I've tried this but tend to forget to do the test after breakfast never mind the rest of the day! Yes I know, I'm stupid!

Feel as though I am a total failure

@Geminigirl your cry touched my heart. I also have multiple problems which include fatigue syndrome, bowel issues, gastric reflux and chronic obesity (BMI 44). I have to be careful what I eat in the way of raw vegetables and salads as it upsets my bowel and also worsens my reflux. I've had...

    Type 2 Best time

I was taught that if I was doing an all day check (which I rarely do as I forget to do them halfway though the day!) then it should be ½hr before a meal and 1½-2hrs after.

    Poopie question

Don't be shy! On these kinds of forums, there are no unmentionable or silly questions! We are all made the same! To the best of my knowledge, colour changes are diet related - obviously! But an excess of carrots (veg or juice) can make the urine orange so it might be a small step to it making...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Last few days my fasting BG has been elevated somewhat but that's because I've just switched from gliclazide to linagliptin and I understand it will be a week or more before it settles in. RATS!

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

Haven't read all of this thread but it would seem the medical fraternity is pretty much against us doing our own testing. My GP/diabetes nurse are both pretty neutral about it but want patients to use the meter of their choice. I've always used my own choice which is OneTouch Verio which I...

Type 2 Do you know what I mean when I say 'maggoty' feeling?

What's an HCP - health care provider? Thanks for your replies but my GP seems disinterested in it as does my diabetes nurse. And it's been ongoing for about 18 months thus far. It's not there all the time, just in phases and only lasts for a few hours. More irritating than anything. It's just...

Type 2 Do you know what I mean when I say 'maggoty' feeling?

A creepy crawly feeling all over my legs and sometimes my arms as well. Makes me want to stamp and wriggle my legs but doesn't really affect this sensation.

Type 2 Do you know what I mean when I say 'maggoty' feeling?

Neither my doctor nor my diabetes nurse seem to know anything about this which is a bit dispiriting. After all, they're supposed to be the experts, right? I get this sensation in my legs but occasionally in other areas about 2-3 times a week and it makes me feel really yucky, irritable and out...

I sleep all day and all night!

Good suggestion, thank you - though I had my thyroid checked about 4 months ago and it was fine.

I sleep all day and all night!

Oh, I forgot to add that I am on Metformin SR 500mg daily with evening meal.

I sleep all day and all night!

It's been about 4 months since I was diagnosed. Since then I have lost 2 stone and still going despite the odd lapse! My BS is down from 12 to 6.5-7. But .................. oh brother, the fatigue! It really gets me down! My day goes something like this: Up about 8.30-9 - breakfast -...

Just popped in to say hi!

I managed to get down to 8.1 - once! But otherwise they were all much, much too high. This is making me freaky about eating anything but I know that's the other extreme. *sigh* Got a date with the diabetes nurse at the surgery tomorrow. Wouldn't be surprised if she slapped me on metformin...

Just popped in to say hi!

Daisy, that is VERY helpful - thank you so much for posting it. I shall try out that test. I actually already have a BM monitor - given my family history, my weight and my age, I thought it was just a matter of time before my body turned on me! Plus I'm a nurse so I knew the score. After just...

Just popped in to say hi!

After some time of being in denial and hovering on the brink, I finally got a BM of 12.9 which is about it, I suppose. No more wavering. Got to bite the bullet (as opposed to the the chocolate!) and face up to the fact. This is not how I planned by life! BTW I have two sisters with LOD, had a...
