    Just a question

I'm a late onset diabetic myself. My own diagnosis was originally type two and was primarily caused by a damaged pancreas. As tablets didn't work I was referred to the type 1 clinic and put on insulin, eventually diagnosed as type 3c.

    Glucophage and hair loss.

Thank you so much. I'm on Type 1 regime with insulin injections and I also take Glucophage/metformin slow release. Looks like I will need to up the vitamin B12!

    Glucophage and hair loss.

Hello, I just watched a TV programme featuring a woman who had severe facial hair growth. Part of her treatment plan was to be prescribed Glucophage. Was I hearing things or could this be the same drug I take for Type TC3 diabetes? I have noticed my own hair has thinned considerably of late but...

Auto immune disease linked to type I

Perhaps fortunately, I was diagnosed with Fybromyalgia before I was diagnosed with Diabetes. I have type 3C and require insulin maintenance much the same as Type 1. I don't have to argue with health professionals but I do get confused myself as to what symptoms are caused by what, especially...

Type 3c - how many are we?

I developed type 3C ten years after my last attack of pancreatitis ( Which previously was chronic). I'm insulin dependent and my blood sugars can be very brittle.

    Newly Diagnosed type 3c

You should be on a waiting list to see a specialist but this can take time. See if you can make an appointment with a diabetic nurse and/or a dietician in the meantime. They will actually be the people helping you with day to day management of your diabetes. The consultants focus on test results...

Can people with 3c control their levels ok

I have type 3C. Unfortunately, I have found that my blood sugar levels are very brittle and I need to test a lot. I benefitted immensely from going on a B.E.R.T.I.E course run by my local hospital. See if you can get referred as it will help you take control.

    Back on the wagon

I recently lost 2 & 1/2 stone at Slimming World but got a bit lax with insulin injections. As soon as I started monitoring and injecting again I put on 7 & 1/2 lbs in one week! I'm horrified and now just don't want to inject at all. It took me so long to lose the weight and the weight loss has...

    metformin

Those who suffer bad indisgestion can ask their Dr to change to Glucophage instead of the normal Metformin. I had terrible trouble with the original Metformin but was told Dr's are obliged to prescribe it first. If it gives you problems you can be switched to the more expensive Glucophage. I...

    Metformin - understanding more

I am on Glucophage which is the more expensive Metformin formulation that has very few side effects. The ordinary Metformin gave me terrible indigestion. Doctors are obliged to start you off on the basic Metformin for cost reasons, if you are not happy you can and shuold be prescribed the dearer...

    Metformin - understanding more

Actually 500mg is not the maximum dose. I take Metformin in the Glucophage format and the tablets are 750mg X two a day.

    Slimming World & Metformin SR

Get your Doctor to change the type of Metformin to Gloucophage. I had just the same cramps but none after the change. By law Dr's have to try you on the 'crampy' one first, very few patients can tolerate it but the other is more expensive for the NHS. You are entitled to it if the other gives...

    Experimenting with my diet

Wow, I would almost be happy to have a normal BS of 8.5. I have secondary diabetes caused my pancreas problems and I can go from a hypo to 19 or more within a couple of hours. I take insulin and metformin but it's a real rollercoaster when it comes to stabilising my BS. I am on a strict diet now...

    Drastically reduced medication

Hello, I started a Low Carb diet two weeks ago and so far I have lost 5 lbs. I put on 2.5 stone since I started injecting insulin and am keen to get rid of it. I have secondary T3C diabetes and take Metformin 750 mg twice a day, Aphidra after meals and Lantus at night. My question is this...

Sugars dropping - good or bad - chronic pancreatitis

For a while I was on the 'Jelly Baby Roundabout'. I now only inject after meals and this seems to have helped. Since being diagnosed in July last year I have put on 2.5 stone! I've started a low fat low carb diet and I am hoping this will help me reduce the amount of insulin I need to take...

    Type 3c Diabetes

I discovered a telling piece of info at my last hospital visit. I asked the consultant why when I was insulin dependant Type 3C was I classified as Type 2 on some hospital paperwork. I was beginning to think I must have misunderstood my original diagnosis. She explained that the hospital...

    Parking fine...treating hypo!!!

These things happen, even to the most diligent. Not everyone can afford just to pay out £70.00 for being ill.

    Night Time Snacking

You could actually have 'Night eating syndrome'. It is a medically recognised problem and they are still doing research on it. I too have the munchies at night and it doesen't matter what I eat I always wake up in the middle of the night hungry. As I inject insulin I am able to monitor my BS though.

    Type 3c Diabetes

I hadn't heard about Glucagon levels before ( But this is all fairly new to me ). My insulin levels are coming down but they're not ideal and I have had quite a few hypos at home. I now have a fear of going out in the car and taking a hypo so I admit I don't take as much insulin in the morning...

    Type1. Struggling to lose weight.

A couple of years ago, before my diagnosis of type 3c diabetes ( Insulin Dependent), I lost 2 1/2 stone at Slimming World but found once I reached my target weight it was very difficult to stay there. It was fairly easy to lose the weight initially, but you will have to treat it as a lifetime...
