    Video games. Hypos.

I do get carried away in games sometimes, especially as I wasn't able to play them for 6 months. I was playing for a few hours today but I had my lunch in the middle and a snack just to make sure I would be OK for another hour or 2, turns out I still went low. That sounds like a good idea...

    Video games. Hypos.

I have been playing video games on my PS4 and seem to be having hypos too. I don't know exactly if the games are causing my hypos, it doesn't make sense as it's not very physical. Every website I have found are saying the opposite, that blood sugar would go up because of stress. I don't feel...

Young, not long a diabetic, still lost half of foot

I respect your opinion on this, but my experience of diabetes has not been this easy. At first it was just a few lifestyle changes and I could deal with that, but 2-3 weeks after my diagnosis I was crippled with pain and also developed dense cataracts, I never even got a chance to try and...

Trying to get back into driving

Hi everyone, I passed my test and was loving driving about in my wee car. After being diagnosed with diabetes I continued for a few weeks like normal, then boom, extreme pain in my feet and legs (possibly neuropathy) and then dense cataracts, which effectively took me off the road. 1 year...

    Death of a pet

It's does hurt, I just keep thinking of all the memories I've had with her, like when we found her and her sister by a busy road (there was a third kitten but it ran away into a bush, couldn't find it). Then there was her first snow day, she loved it. I also remember her sitting in my laptop box...

    Death of a pet

I'm dying inside thinking about it, my brother came home from school yesterday all happy then we had to tell him, I've never seen him cry like that, the older of my sisters cried too, the younger one didn't, she's too young to understand fully but you could tell she was sad. We've got a wee...

    Type 1 losing motivation

I know how hard it is to be motivated. There's a lot of times I just want to lie in bed all day and not eat or do my injections. However I do get up and do them and eat as at the moment I have neuropathy, which I've had since being diagnosed, and I just think to myself, would I rather more...

    Death of a pet

Hi everyone, One of my beloved kitties had to be put to sleep yesterday due to liver failure and failing kidneys. It has been painful watching her suffer over the weekend and I understand that putting her to sleep was the right thing to do, but I don't know how I'm going to cope without her...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Mine was 7.1, last night it was 18.9 after a 2.8 hypo earlier that day, glad it's down now

    sugar went low

It seems that tidying is quite physical, even though it doesn't seem like it, I was tidying my desk with a blood sugar of 9 and it dropped to 2.7

How old were you when you first diagnosed with type 1?? And how long do you have it??

I got T1 just before Christmas last year, 17 December 2015, at age 20. It was such a good year until that happened. In contrast 2016 has been the worst year yet, with being nearly blind with cataracts(sorted now) and neuropathy quickly developing 2 to 3 weeks after being diagnosed. Trying to...

    Sleep interrupted by neuropathy.

I have peripheral neuropathy pains too and am in a similar situation to you, only I haven't been able to work as the pains are just too much. My GP put me on gabapentin and baclofen but I don't notice much from it. I was told that alpha lipoic acid helps with neuropathy so I've ordered a couple...

Type 1s: How do you explain a hypo to non-diabetics?

I tried explaining what a hypo felt like to my sister but couldn't explain it. I had two hypos that were 2.7/2.8 and it gave me one of the worst headaches imaginable. I had to get my mum to test me and it took over an hour to get back over 4. Other times I don't feel hypos, or I will talk a lot...

Newly Diagnosed - neuropathy and other problems

Lol, that reminds me of my kitten, only he hangs around the neck of my older cats, they don't appreciate it too much. My kitten is sprawled out on the pillow on my bed, he loves that pillow, can't blame him, snoring away lol

Newly Diagnosed - neuropathy and other problems

I must try that, anything to lessen the pain. I go for a lidocaine infusion every 10 weeks(or its supposed to be 10 weeks) and I put lidocaine patches on my back every night. My GP has prescribed me with gabapentin and baclofen but they don't appear to do anything. I wouldn't stop taking them...

Newly Diagnosed - neuropathy and other problems

I looked at what I wrote and realised that lol. I have had hamsters before and they haven't acted like that, but Hammy is younger and the other hamsters didn't have a crazy kitten running around.

Newly Diagnosed - neuropathy and other problems

Hi everyone I was diagnosed T1 at age 20 just before Christmas, much to my disappointment as it would have been the best Christmas for me in a while (a new laptop, loads of chocolate and sweets which I couldn't eat, and all the other things) and the new Star Wars movie. I remember feeling...
