    Lost bloods Control

@Chris24Main - Many thanks for your message. I've ordered some Lo Carb bread from Low Carb Food Co which is not a million miles from the gym I use, so this is my final attempt (along with the other tips I'll adopt received from members) to keep some form of bread in my diet. If I can't get my...

    Lost bloods Control

Stews and pies as main evening meals. So it’s the taters and pastry that I’m guessing are the issue, I usually have bread too as I’m constantly hungry at the moment. Salad and vegetables don’t seem to fill me up. I usually have a sandwich for lunch but it’s always with protein like chicken or...

    Lost bloods Control

Hi Pipp, Many thanks. Diet has been poor but I’m on it now, my main difficulty is with bread. Meds are Metformin 500mg twice a day, plus 5mg Linagliptin in the evening. I also have to take 100mg day Azathioprine and 5mg prednisone for an eye condition. I go to the gym 90mins 4/5 times a week...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Hi @Ladynijo Diagnosed 7 years ago. Many thanks for your reply, its heartening to know my readings are not unique. I'm recently retired so not on my feet as much or working the hours I used to so BG has gone a little awry in the last 12 months. I'll continue with more testing and see if its...

Which kinds of exercise raise / lower blood sugar?

What a great thread! I've been struggling to understand why after no breakfast and 1hr spent in the gym my BG is always around 2mmol/L higher than before I started. I'll now try varying the routine see what my meter says.

    Steroid-Induced Diabetes

I have sarcoidosis also and was taking a high dose of Prednisolone also whilst on a new drug trial. During the trial I had a infection that put me in hospital and was taken off the trial and told to taper the steroid off. My average BG was 7.5mmol/L for around 3 weeks even after tapering off the...

    BG or Cholesterol Level

SamJB, many thanks for you reply. Having now followed some of the links in the thread - a potential 1% decrease in risk of CVD opposed to a potential increase in diabetic management problems, mean I will not be taking the statins.

    BG or Cholesterol Level

which came out with a 22% chance of heart attack or stroke within the next 10years. Sobering thought (I'm 62) so I agreed to take the Statin. If my current average HBA1C rises I'll be off them straight away. In the mean time I'm trying to strike a balance between Low Carb and Low Fat.

    BG or Cholesterol Level

I only received the total of 7.2 during a repeat visit to my GP. The visit was dur=e to a sudden increase in my BP (170/90) which I think was down to a dodgy Tuna steak. After he entered my BP and Cholesterol into a sort of spreadsheet

    BG or Cholesterol Level

I was told by my GP I had raised Cholesterol levels and given an appointment with a dietician because I said I wouldn't take statins. After explaining my full medical history and being congratulated on my BG control (Type 2) I was told to eat more carbs and less fat to combat my cholesterol...
