    Cholesterol results - worried

I’ve found it quite tough with exercise and maintaining gluco control. For a 1 hour ride at moderate intensity I’m loading with approx 45g carbs which I know goes against the idea of fat burning. Something I was looking at before this set back.

    Cholesterol results - worried

Thanks for the reply, the blood test was at 5:30pm so my guess as I can’t quite remember is I ate something around 12:30, maybe a cheddar soup and a packet of pork scratchings, can’t quite remember. I had also probably had a cup of coffee with double cream and a couple of waters. I lost about...

    Cholesterol results - worried

Thanks everyone for the information. I’m struggling to convince the other half that what I was doing wasn’t just an attempt to make life difficult. I can’t help but feel the doctor is going to be dead against me getting back on with LCHF and will try convince me to eat healthy fats and increase...

    Cholesterol results - worried

Evening all, I’ve been running a LCHF diet for just over 2 months, a few weeks ago I became a little unwell and ended up having blood tests done to establish the cause of the issue. I was called back into the surgery to discuss my results. My overall cholesterol has risen from 5.6 (I know...

    Keto - exercise

If I treat a hypo with jelly babies or some other carbs will I come out of Ketogenic state fast? And will it take a few days for my body to re-adjust to fat burning for energy?

    Keto - exercise

Hey, Thanks for the reply. Currently I’m getting on my indoor trainer bike, approx 1-2hour sessions about 4 times a week. I’m building strength so intensity is reasonably low keeping my HR around 130-150bpm. If I don’t keep topping up with carbs I’m hypoglycaemic after about 20 mins...

    Keto - exercise

Good evening all, Hope you all had a great weekend. I was hoping to find someone who has done any work with ketogenic diets and exercise as a type 1 diabetic. I’ve been running very low carb/keto since 1st December with unbelievable positive effects on my blood gluco control. I’m planning to...

    John O’Groat to Lands End

Keep us updated with progress on this, would be interested how you get on and your route. I like the idea of not planning your stops too heavily. I’m sure if I do that I may end up extending the journey time though, knowing my next stop is xxx miles away will keep my seated. Knowing I can stop...

    John O’Groat to Lands End

Hey Alexandra, Thanks for this, I’ve had a bit of a look through Ian’s blog and it’s amazing how well he’s in control while doing physical activity. Are you type 1 and have you done anything like low carb for fat adapted? Just spoke to my wife about it as it really would be a lifestyle change...

    John O’Groat to Lands End

Thanks for the reply sue! Sounds like you’re doing brilliant to be diagnosed just a couple of years ago and undertaking a challenge like JOGLE, congratulations for completing it. I felt quite the same, I had lost my old man when I was 26, I was a pretty chubby guy at the time, decided It was a...

Thanks, appreciate the support. I had another post deleted. Think it was because of a link to my blog. Can you let me know if the rules so I don’t overstep them again? Do you know much about the low carb diet Ian adopted before and during the run? I want to read more on this as i think this...

    John O’Groat to Lands End

Has anyone completed such a challenge? Starting my training for 2021 and wondering how this is going to effect me for the 9 days cycling? Planning on B&Bing it on route to give me somewhere I can stock up on sleep and carbs! 100 miles at once sounds like quite a challenge right now, so...

    2x 10k’s, 1 x half and 2 marathons

@Davie_sett Looks like you put in a good training run yesterday at a pace I can only dream of at the minute! If you don’t mind me asking would love to know how you plan for your runs, you went out early afternoon, I tend to get out early so I don’t have any bolus insulin onboard, do you wait...

    2x 10k’s, 1 x half and 2 marathons

So after another morning high on wake up I think I need to make a change! Going to change my ratio for evening meal first to see if it’s that that I’m getting wrong! Maybe my carb counting isn’t so bad, looks like I’ll be waking up at 2am to check my BG to make sure my basal overnight is right...

    2x 10k’s, 1 x half and 2 marathons

I was wondering if just covering it would work, I normally just forget, start running and then get a blue thermometer telling me it’s too cold. QA stands for quick acting, doesn’t really mean anything as a pump user, bust still class any Bolus (correction and eating) as QA, I just become hyper...
