Help Interpreting Test Results. Could this be LADA?

Thanks @Lamont D I should have paid more attention to your now 2-year old post. You are some kind of prophet! I didn't really figure this out until a year later. Cheers

Help Interpreting Test Results. Could this be LADA?

@Mweirum I hope you see this at some point. Sorry for the very late response. I haven't visited here for a long while. At the time my previous posts on this thread were written, I was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome ( POTS ) and with "hypoglycemia" based on the GTT...

    Pork Rinds Raise Fasting BG?

It seems to be more than just pork rinds that raise my "background" BG. Uncured Pork chops too. I found one other posting from someone with the same complaint: http://nfbnet.org/pipermail/diabetes-talk_nfbnet.org/2011-April/003553.html

    Pork Rinds Raise Fasting BG?

@donnellysdogs Do you take or have you ever tried supplementing with digestive enzymes? In particular, pancreatic enzymes like Pancreatin? I've tried it - I try a lot of things - but didn't notice much of anything. But then again, my digestion is not too bad. From one of the reviews...

    Pork Rinds Raise Fasting BG?

Were the rashers cured? There is a strange/interesting article on the Weston A Price Foundation website that describes some negative changes in blood coagulation and inflammation after eating uncured pork. Not sure what to make of it.

    Pork Rinds Raise Fasting BG?

Good point. I've been taking a lot of readings lately, so I have a bit more information. What happens is approximately this: With pork rinds in the diet, all my blood sugar readings are 20 points ( American units ) higher. Waking, Fasting, Post meal. All of it. I haven't. It would be...

    Pork Rinds Raise Fasting BG?

I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this and if so what type of diabetes you have. If I follow a very low carbohydrate diet without pork rinds, my fasting glucose will drop to about 80 within a few days. If I allow myself to eat pork rinds, my fasting glucose approaches 100 after a...

Help Interpreting Test Results. Could this be LADA?

Update: I saw the GP today. She said the high spikes in blood sugar could be an early sign of type II. She suggested I take another glucose tolerance test to try to catch the spike at 1hr. I hesitated since I already know there is going to be spike I don't think going hypo again is good for...

Help Interpreting Test Results. Could this be LADA?

Hi @andcol, Interesting thought. My normal diet is low carb, maybe very low carb but I've never actually calculated anything. The only carbs I've been eating recently are above ground vegetables and occasionally some fruit.( Oh, and carrots too.) So, I did break my normal routine to run these...

Help Interpreting Test Results. Could this be LADA?

Got the glucose meter. In the attached pdf, I've plotted my glucose for 5 hours after three different meals. The latest meal with white rice spiked my glucose up beyond 200. I don't see any reactive hypoglycemia though. What does this mean? Impaired phase 1 insulin response? Prediabetes?

Help Interpreting Test Results. Could this be LADA?

Thanks for the suggestions @Lamont D ! Is there any consensus on which glucose meters are good, and at the same time use test strips that won't break the bank? This will all be out of pocket for me. Trying to read reviews at Amazon is making my head spin at the moment.

Help Interpreting Test Results. Could this be LADA?

I see the Doc on Monday so she hasn't had a chance to tell me anything yet. A member of her staff called with the results yesterday, but didn't give me any sort of explanation.

Help Interpreting Test Results. Could this be LADA?

Thanks for the replies. I guess I was wondering if the hypos could be an early sign of LADA as discussed in this thread: Untypical: LADA / postprandial hypos for yeeeears Before I started the low carb diet, many of my symptoms were consistent with high blood sugar. Unfortunately I never got a...

Help Interpreting Test Results. Could this be LADA?

Hi catapillar, Thanks for the quick reply! Unfortunately, they did not take an intermediate glucose measurement. Just fasting and at the two hour mark. I've got a ton of other symptoms! Before I started low carbing some of my symptoms included: Fatigue POTS - postural orthostatic tachycardia...

Help Interpreting Test Results. Could this be LADA?

Hi, New member here, 42y male. I've been on a low carb diet for over a year now, which has taken me from feeling awful to just feeling fatigued. I was hoping someone could help explain my recent 2hr glucose tolerance test results. I'll also include some other testing that might be relevant...
