Thank for the honesty and the warning. In the end I will only enquire, i would never buy anything in haste - especially if I don't understand it. There would always be that risk of linking something back to one of my conditions, but this is not to replace what treatment i already have , more to...

    PMI

Very true, but thats where I got some stick. My mother told me there are people who were in worse condition who would be seen first, i would wait ages and it was probably nothing. I should have ignored that advice. Problem is that I had no clue that my symptoms matched dka, it was my first...

My current treatment from my doctors, nurses ect, is actually good. I am quite happy so far with my treamtment. My concern was for my first diagnosis of each of my conditions. I remember for type 1 diabetes, i became very ill very quickly. I was also in the middle of my exams which made...

Thank you all for your responses, really appreciate it. I will try and consult a broker, and see what they say. For the interest if others, i will report back with what I find, although most of you probably have a good idea of what would be covered.

Many thanks for your reply. Short term problems that can be "cured" or atleast return yourself to your former health. Things like DKA, a severe hypo... I have never experienced any of these, this is more of a precaution for the potential future.

Hello all, I hope you are all well. I am a 22 year old type 1 diabetic, :(, with GAD and severe depression. I was looking into trying to get private medical insurance in general for quicker treatment and better care overall in general. I decided to have a look around, and i knew before hand...

How old were you when you first diagnosed with type 1?? And how long do you have it??

diagnosed 1 week before my 18th birthday. However that was due to a delay from the GP by almost a month after contacting him about my symptoms and the fact I could barely read much less concentrate on exams at the time.

    Type 1: Alcohol?

I have never problems with any drinks. But I actively avoid ciders and even beer. My doctors always told me to never binge and make sure you eat either before or as you drink. I was also told to constantly check my blood sugars every few hours or so as it does tend to drop low when you have been...

Type 1: How many times do you have to test your blood sugar

Not since my diagnosis. Due to have my test a few days after but I remember having blurred vision and extreme thirst. Also used to feel extremely hot all the time. Never really returned to it since because of how annoying it was to cancel my test when I was most prepared.

My favourite is "Have a bowl of ice cream, nothing will happen, you wont even need insulin" and then there is me clenching my fist Or "you can always reverse diabetes." after explaining all the science to them, "That's not true, all forms of diabetes can be reversed" *shaking my head and...

Type 1: Newly diagnosed, any advice?

Well I was diagnosed last year end of June a week before my 18th. Only person in my entire family to have it so far and they don't really understand it, but found my doctors to be extremely helpful. Whats not helpful is when your mum says you can have ice cream a fair few times with more...
