    Artifical sweeteners

Went to buy a refill of Canderel at the supermarket (S...) when I noticed, on the same shelf as the standard red pot of the sweetener, a new Canderel product named 'Sugarly'. It's tagged as a granular sweetener. Anybody know if this is OK for us diabetics?? I would assume so, as the marketing...

Can a (current) cold virus affect a LONG-TERM blood glucose reading (mmol / HbA1c)?

Hi Andrew That's great! EXACTLY the kind of DETAILED help I was looking for! :-) Re: So a cold virus will only have a minimal effect; which is good, as otherwise the appointment for an HbA1c test seems a gross waste of both parties' time! ,-) Thanks

Hi Andy12345 - no, no probs, all informative advice is welcome as IMHO there is no problem with any posting with related data/experience - it all helps! It's interesting that you never found a cause - though I am very pleased for your sake that it went away! :) :) That is a case of an...

Twitching right eyelids (bottom & top); & now left eyelids too

Hi eddie1968 Thanks for the info re nystagmus. However, as per a rather good! graphic illustration on Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nystagmus), this is a condition that affects the eye rather than the eyelid. The eye is OK in my case, it's the eyelid/s that is/are affected!

Twitching right eyelids (bottom & top); & now left eyelids too

Hi Robinredbreast - thanks - yes, I have already made an appointment with my GP. This is due in the next fortnight. However, as per the term (in "GP") of "general"! practitioner, these surgery doctors have only a general knowledge of lots of medical conditions, & little knowledge of specialist...

Twitching right eyelids (bottom & top); & now left eyelids too

Does anybody else share this symptom: a twitching right eyelid; & now in the left eyelid too. It occurs on both bottom & top eyelids. I am on several meds for Diabetes 2: insulin (Humulin M3), Victoza, Metformin; plus Statin meds for high cholesterol. Has anybody else experienced this symptom...

How Much Insulin Do I Take?

What is the max. amount of Humulin M3 that I can take? I cannot find ANY info - even in the Humulin M3 leaflet! I was given in July 2014 when I started taking this insulin - that tells me this. I am not due to see the diabetic specialist doctor till February 2015, 3-4 months away. And need to...

Can a (current) cold virus affect a LONG-TERM blood glucose reading (mmol / HbA1c)?

Will a cold virus affect the reading of LONG-TERM blood glucose? (As I know it can affect an IMMEDIATE BG reading.) I ask this I am at the end of having a cold virus but am still not completely back to healthy, & it was a nasty virus that lasted a long time (7 days!) in comparison to the usual...

Questions about my BG results 1 and 2 hours after my meal

Thanks AnnieC. That "2 hours post meals guideline is under 8.5" is the info that I came to the forum today to look for! (Found the same info again at: http://www.diabetes.co.uk/diabetes_care/blood-sugar-level-ranges.html). I was wondering as my diabetic specialist said, at my last appointment...

Levemir not reducing BMs enough: would it help to change HOUR I take it to morning (from evening)?

Hi all Well, after trying a split dosage of Levemir for a few weeks, I saw no change to my BMs at all; so I have had :-( :-( :-( to change to the Humulin M3 that the specialist suggested (see footnote to my signature, below, detailing my "meds"). I am very sad to do so but needs must, & yes...

Sweet tooth! (when my BMs are very high)

Has anyone else noticed, as I have: that, when my BMs are very high, that is the VERY time - ironically! & unfortunately! - that I often crave sweets&chocs really badly!! Which is of course not good for me, as it means a sugar-overloaded system then gets overloaded with yet MORE sugar! :-( Is...

Levemir not reducing BMs enough: would it help to change HOUR I take it to morning (from evening)?

Thanks all for the advice & info. BTW, what should my post-meal BM reading IDEALLY be, as all the diab specialist was that "it is too high", without telling me by how much! LOL! i.e. what mmol reading should I be aiming to see in the BM unit (I use an AccuChek unit) after a brek, a lunch, or...

Levemir not reducing BMs enough: would it help to change HOUR I take it to morning (from evening)?

I have diabetes 2. I have just seen the diab specialist again. At my previous specialist appointment the dr had started me on insulin (Levemir), as the Metformin, Victoza, & Glimepiride that I had been taking till then weren't reducing my BMs sufficiently. So I currently take: Levemir [1...

Hi whizzyweb36 Re: Yes, I was on that too for the first 7days. It must be 'standard' to lead up to the 1.2 dose with the 0.6 dose - maybe to let the body get used to the new med. Hope it all works out for you too!
