Relatively new to keto, looking for advice

Hi all, Background info: Type 1 since 12, now 30. Using Freestyle Libre and Novorapid/Tresiba. My 18 years of diabetes has certainly not been easy; I have rebelled, I have ignored it, I have been DKA twice. I have been very lucky with no complications so far (apart from slight background...

Type 1 4mm needles not working

Thanks, just doing some research on Omnipod now. My appointment is on Thursday that's the only reason I haven't called. Plus I have some spare 8mm needles I've started using again for now :)

Type 1 4mm needles not working

I have used 2 cartridges with similar effects on blood sugar levels so I don't think it's that :( I might try going back to the bigger needles or asking the Nurse at my next appointment!

Type 1 4mm needles not working

I leave the needle in for 10 seconds before taking it out but I'm not sure I inject at a 90 degree angle. I pretty much just go straight in head on

Type 1 4mm needles not working

Yes, I have. But it's the old 'don't want something attached to me permanently' story. I have the Libre sensor on but it's so small on the back of my arm. I feel as though with the pump I would have wires and all sorts attached to me and wouldn't like it

Type 1 4mm needles not working

Yeah that's maybe why and should possibly up my dosage. Seems a bit crazy though as my carb:insulin ratio is going to be really high. Like probably 4 units per 10g D:

Type 1 4mm needles not working

I do have some lumps in my stomach but I have been avoiding there so I use my hips, bum and legs mostly. I honestly can't see any other pattern except the needles as I have been trying to get really good control lately, using the FreeStyle Libre, watching what I eat, counting carbs and walking...

Type 1 4mm needles not working

I have been using the 8mm for 14 years since first diagnosis but the DR said that it doesn't matter what weight you are, new research shows that everyone should be using shorter needles so they just changed my prescription. I'm not 100% on the Science behind it. There have been no other changes...

Type 1 4mm needles not working

Hi all, In need of some advice. I have recently been switched from using the NovoFine 8mm needles to the BD 4mm needles but I genuinely don't think they are working properly a lot of the time. Example: this morning had porridge @ 40g carb and injected 10 NovoRapid, blood sugars have shot up to...

Thanks, I will check out Glimp. I think I was just worried about breaking the sensor as I have heard some phones can damage them. I agree with what you have said. Even after just 2 weeks of wearing it, I am paying much better attention to my health. Before I kinda thought, screw this, I do my...

Mine seems to be stuck on for now so I'll see how it is at the end of the two weeks! I got a sticker for the patch and sensor which is cool but pricey so won't be doing it every time! I agree, even after 3 days my poor fingers are thanking me. I think it's brilliant. Although I'm sure the...

Thanks for the advice. My readings over the past 48 hours of use have been similar, sometimes totally accurate with meter and sometime slightly out. I'm looking forward to being able to download the data and not writing it all down in a notebook.. how old fashioned[emoji12]

Ahhhh that's promising news! I really hope it does. I'm pretty sure my Mobile Cassette's for my Accu Check Mobile cost more anyway

Yes I have to agree with this point @ScottyD - I've had 2 faulty sensors recently and having emailed them, they've replaced both for me. Really good customer service. [emoji106] That's really good to know thank you

    Depression, Diabetes and social interaction.

Hi Mark, I was diagnosed at 12 (now 26) and after years of battling against diabetes, I decided I couldn't go on the way I was going. Firstly with the social interaction, I am pretty certain that my diabetes diagnosis lead to my Social Anxiety Disorder. I completely shut down, lost touch with...

Thanks - I did mention this in my Con list: There is a 10-15 delay in readings due to the sensor continuously measuring glucose in the interstitial fluid which is the intracellular fluid that surrounds the cells rather than the whole blood. This also means you still have to finger prick before...

Hi Juicyj, yes I am hoping that the trends and patterns will enable me to get better control as after 14 years with T1, it's still not happened! It's a shame about the NHS funding. Fortunately, I have a good job and can afford the sensors however anything can happen and one day I might not be...

Thanks for this, I didn't know about this. As it's my first day using it, I'm just trying to get to grips with the scanner/sensor
