Type 2s: How long did it take to get HbA1C below 42

Apart from a blip earlier this year (almost ended up in coma ^^) my last HBA1c came out at 46 and I am actually quite happy to maintain that level. Of course I would like it lower but I don't intend on going too extreme with my diet

    What about this metformin

Personally I would not risk taking them, different countries have differing standards when it comes to medication. It's better to be safe than sorry!!

Anyone taking Citalopram finding it hard to lose weight?

The vast majority of weight gain is caused by the anti-depressants in ways such as affecting your eating habits, suppressing the feeling of "being full" and of course direct intake of the drugs for example. Also it takes a good amount of time to find the SSRI/SNRI that works for you as an...

Anyone taking Citalopram finding it hard to lose weight?

Anti-depressants are notorius for causing weight gain, one of the most common one that's normally blamed is Celexa aka Citalopram. There are Anti-depressants that are weight neutral, see the list below escitalopram (Lexapro, Cipralex), an SSRI duloxetine (Cymbalta), another SSRI buproprion...

    Quetiapine and Ziprazidone

Seen my GP, he has over-ridden my specialist and has moved me onto Aripiprazole as in his opinion she is putting my mental health at risk

    Quetiapine and Ziprazidone

So I went to see the specialist and she is refusing to switch me to a different anti-psychotic which thanks to supplies of Quietapine in the area I will now be forced into a cold turkey situation. She has decided to put me onto a beta blocker called Propanolol, yet another medication known to...

    Quetiapine and Ziprazidone

Well I cannot comment of course on what keeps you sane but there are a options that wouldn't effect your blood sugar from my research when it comes to anti-psychotics. As for your GP if they refuse make it clear that you are demanding the 3 months BS done and if not you could always speak to...

    Quetiapine and Ziprazidone

Yeah I also have bipolar (type 2) which was why I was put on the meds in the first place. I think the reason the specialist put me on quetiapine was that it was the only med's shes had long experience with. If she tried to keep me on it again, I'm going for a second opinion

    Quetiapine and Ziprazidone

I actually have the form here from the diabetic specialist and in it where it says what caused my diagnosis of type 2 diabetes it reads *induced by anti-psychotics*. I have been spending a lot of of time resarching anti-pyschotic medication, its medication trials and known problems and from...

    Quetiapine and Ziprazidone

I've been on Quietapine for quite a long time (used for my high anxiety and bipolar) and 2 of my GPS agree that it probably contributed to my type 2 diabetes diagnosis. I have researched the drug and I have found that it does in-fact increase my blood sugar and prevent me from feeling like my...

Possible Type 1 although diagnosed with type 2

It's totally worth getting the GAD blood test if you are concerned about type 1 and this is coming from someone with a really bad phobia of needles.

Possible Type 1 although diagnosed with type 2

Good news, I was able to get my GAD test back and while she said the results were slightly confusing, the overall result is that it was found to be negative. She will be changing me from Gliclazide to Empagliflozin once I come back off my holidays so progress is made. Thanks for all the help...

Possible Type 1 although diagnosed with type 2

To be honest I thought the same, but it seems that the specialist is unsure to what type I have, my GP diagnosed it as type 2 but apparently she doesn't trust his diagnosis it seems. Personally I feel that it's type 2 because yeah I would have likely been a lot worse than I have been. Oh well...
