    Include country in user posts?

And my country shows up because I have it under "location" in my profile.

    Include country in user posts?

I would tend to agree, but people do have the option to include their country in their profile. Presumably some people would prefer not to share their location? Or do you mean that it would be a good idea to show it without people needing to look at profiles?

    Holiday

Congrats on the wedding @Dudette1 . The only (sort of) cruise I've been on was twelve years ago via a mail boat to St Helena, was pre airport so the only method of access at the time. Diabetes was like any normal holiday but the boat operators did require you to have medical insurance to...

    Frequency of Tresiba dose adjustment?

I find that sometimes my lantus appears to "go off" when I'm near the end of a cartridge..... I know most insulins are supposed to last 28 days out of the fridge but I am not personally convinced that this is always the case. However, I haven't used tresiba and have no idea how long you've been...

Ketones, potential illness and low carb diet

I've been T1 for 54 years and never had a DKA, but when my consultant insisted on giving me a glucose monitor that also checks for ketones, my understanding was that ketones are only an issue if you have a raised blood sugar. (Provided you're not on a flozin, where DKA can potentially occur at...

Move from type 2 to Type 1.

Hi @Miss Piggywig As a long term T1 I have to say that many T1s find pizza a hard one to dose for so it may not have been the easiest choice for your first meal out. (The fat in the pizza can delay the absorption of the carbs and some people need to split their bolus dose to cover it)...

    Type 1 Novorapid insulin storage

That is my understanding too but I think the question is, if you have it out of the fridge for only a day, does the 28 day countdown still start...? Something I would like to know too, because my insulins were out of the fridge for a day last time I got a prescription, because I forgot to put...

I need to reduce my Tresiba (again!), and it's a pain in the proverbial. And nighttime hypos.

@Antje77 I wonder if you need to consider adding some longer acting carbs to your wine gums when you have a hypo at night? If your insulin resistance is reducing and you have too much basal in your system then logically you need the longer acting carbs to keep you from repeated lows in the...

Car insurance cancelled after switch to insulin

This is the attitude that all my insurance companies (UK, Australia and now NZ) have taken. Presumably @MrsD013 's husband's insurance company don't insure over 70s either, as their licenses are also restricted to 3 years?

    Hypo unawareness (HU) questionnaires

I use a dexcom rather than a libre but find it can significantly under read, particularly during the first 12h of a sensor. Also compression lows can indicate false hypos. I'd be very unhappy to be declared hypo unaware on the basis of readings from a cgm.

    Type 3

Does your doctor know about the allergy? I hope it gets better too but it may be worth raising the issue with your GP.

how much carb is allowed per day for type 1

You have to remember that the 70s was pre glucometer, so all you could do was test urine for sugar. Everyone (well me, certainly) ran much higher so hypos were rarer.... My regime was very similar to that described by @dancer

I can’t see the numbers on the dial

I think you can get special magnifying glasses that fit over insulin pens - syringe magnifiers eg (disclaimer, this is what I got from google so no idea whether this one works) https://www.amazon.com/Insul-Eze-SPM-Magnifier-Clip-Injectors/dp/B0CF4BZDHG

Been told I have secondary diabetes

Negative antibodies don't disprove T1, positive ones prove it. I think the big issue here is that people whose diabetes mean that they need the same treatment as a T1 don't (yet) qualify for the same resources. I can only hope that the rules change with time.

Healthy BMI - Recently Diagnosed Type 2 at 34 years old - (Help Required!)

Hi @SlimType2 and welcome to the forums. Just a few questions, What do you mean by Though there are plenty of TOFI (thin outside fat inside) T2s out there, there are also other types of diabetes to be considered when you are a slightly unusual presentation (young and thin in your case). Do...

Sudden worsening of sugar levels for no apparent reason

Hi @MauroSilvano and welcome to the forums @Daibell is listed as LADA on their profile, which is a subset of T1. It is expected that T1s eventually produce no (or almost no) insulin because an autoimmune reaction destroys all their insulin producing cells. As such, they are expected to...

    Low Carb Recommendations from 1917

Indeed, low carb was the only treatment available for any form of diabetes in 1917. While I don't hesitate to recommend low carb as a first step to friends and/or family with T2, it doesn't work for everyone, and I think we should be glad that more treatments are now available for T2s , just as...

I need to reduce my Tresiba (again!), and it's a pain in the proverbial. And nighttime hypos.

Well exercise and weight definitely make a difference for me, and I can well believe that back pain would be pushing your levels up. I wonder if skipping the pain meds also makes a difference? (Probably not, my googling suggests ibuprofen may have the opposite effect in higher doses...

I need to reduce my Tresiba (again!), and it's a pain in the proverbial. And nighttime hypos.

Maybe all that swimming is finally reducing your insulin resistance? Maybe extra dog cuddles are reducing stress? I feel your frustration though, chasing lows and highs is a pain, particularly with such a slow basal.... Good luck.
