    Blood sugars and alcohol

That’s what I’ve been mulling over in my head, I can’t seem to understand why I’m having to take 6 units of rapid to bring my sugars down when my liver is working over time to break down the alcohol? I’ve alwsys found beer and cider okay but I guess diabetes is very complex and never makes...

    Blood sugars and alcohol

Hello, I’m 21 years old and been a type 1 for over 3 years now, I’ve done a lot of drinking over these years as I’m at the prime age of wanting to go out and get smashed! I’ve never ever had an issue with alcohol affecting my blood sugars which is extremely lucky, however recently over the past...

    Blood sugars and tattoos

Oh well that is interesting, I’m simply going off the Diabetes website, so I guess that advice is pretty generic and more something that could potentially happen? Have you got a tattoo on your arm where the libre is placed and if so do you still put the libre there or do you find a different place?

    Blood sugars and tattoos

Thank you for this advice very helpful!! Luckily I’m not on any blood thinners just omeprozol daily which is fine. I’m in the process of organising it at the moment but this artist seems pretty good!

    Blood sugars and tattoos

Hello, I’m looking to get a tattoo relatively soon specifically a sleeve, and I’m wondering what effects tattoos can have on your blood sugars, I know they can raise your sugars but I’m not sure on what precautions I need to take, weather to administer insulin for it and how long should I leave...

    Absorption rates

yeah I'm the same, being blessed with rather pale skin means some of my injection bruises last a few days!! I've gathered some results from a few days testing but may have to spend a couple weeks really scrutinising my sugars and evaluating my injection sites before I come to a solid conclusion!

    Absorption rates

that's what I'm looking to focus on really, as I've only been a type 1 for 2 years now (although those 2 years have flown by) and I just want to make sure I try and stay on top of things the best I can, which I'm sure every type 1 feels the same.

    Absorption rates

It’s so confusing really as I have experienced blood sugars dropping quicker after using my thighs but that’s because the weather was hot. That’s the biggest issue is having to consider all the other possibilities. But when my sugars are sitting at 12-16mmol I do end up feeling very frustrated...

    Absorption rates

Hmm that’s what I’m thinking because injecting into different sites has never been a problem, but as usual with something like this there are far too many variables too consider. I think I’ll carry on shooting into my legs for a couple more days see how it goes and then go back to my stomach.

    Absorption rates

Hello everyone, recently I have been injecting into my thighs to help my stomach recover and heal. But I have a slight hunch that when injecting into my legs the insulin is absorbed slower than if shooting into my stomach? A DSN has said that injecting into legs does do that (I never believed...

Honey moon period or insulin sensitive?

Apologies that's my fault I didn't explain properly what I meant is what you said at the end there, I should be able to consume about 20/30 grams of slow acting carbs inbetween meals but at the minute I'm unable to do so.

Honey moon period or insulin sensitive?

Sorry for the delay, but that sounds exactly like my experiences this year, contastantly having to change the background every week or so. And I feel you on the amount of rapid you're having to take it always seemed absurd that I would eat a large amount of food and take such little insulin, but...

Honey moon period or insulin sensitive?

My last hba1c in September was 10, but that's because they believe I was honey mooning. What I'm finding is that I can raise the background and my sugars can drop a bit nicer and be at on average 8-11 mmol but I'm unable to snack on the levemir and if I raise The background too much I'll hypo...

Honey moon period or insulin sensitive?

I use pens that dial up in ones I haven't been given the chance to look into 1/2 unit pens perhaps I'll suggest it to my consultant nurse in a couple weeks. My 7-14 day averages are about 12-15. And I test 4 times minimum but can be up to 13 times a day. I think it will be a very long time...

Honey moon period or insulin sensitive?

Oh absolutely this has been a rather stressful year right from January (unrelated to my diabetes) but obviously those stresses can spill over and affect blood sugars. Yes yes yes that's exactly what happens, even if I raise my background by 1 unit it could have drastic effects, which is...

Honey moon period or insulin sensitive?

I take the odd hay fever tablet when necessary but not every day, started taking omeprazol the past few days but put another post up the other day regarding that and have established that probably isn't a factor to consider. In terms of exercising I haven't done anything strenuous as my sugars...

Honey moon period or insulin sensitive?

Hey everyone, This year in January my sugars randomly started dropping without needing much or any rapid insulin at all. I remember for about 8 days I took 1 unit of levemir and not a single drop of rapid. This up and down rubbish continued all the way up to September/October time. And since...

Type 1 omeprazole and possible effects on blood sugar?

Hahaha it's a challenging world I won't lie. Ahhh yes those pesky nurses do like to do that from time to time, I often have to remind them that I am living with it 24/7!! Yep am already finding out information I never even knew about! Wish I joined sooner though.

    Honey mood stage.

No worries! Oh absolutely, everyone's body is different and so is everyone's insulin requirements - which im sure that's been said to you a lot in the past few months. If you're going to make changes I recommend changing one element at a time so then you can really see and work out what is...

Type 1 omeprazole and possible effects on blood sugar?

Apart from some minor weight lifting I've done nothing out the ordinary, eating is the same as usual. I did forget to mention I've been honey mooning this year, however I've had a 2/3 month spell of my sugars being easy to manage, could be them going out of control again?
