    New diagnosis/confused Mum!!

My diagnosis was almost identical. Quick onset, less than a week from NY day up to my admission to hospital on the 4th Jan this year. In that week my eyes went blurry, I was visiting the toilet what seemed like every two minutes, I was gulping orange juice like there was no tomorrow as water...

I assumed wrongly perhaps. Maybe. It could have been mustered. The face plant just made me assume that it was a condescending emoticon post as if that blood test was common knowledge.

What's the admin tag for? Jeez. Pathetic. I gave a reply to what I thought was a legitimate question. Sorry for annoying your clear sense of snitching.

That'll be the test to see if the antibodies are in the blood to show if the pancreas is working or not. Can take anything from 4 weeks to 8 weeks. :/

    Finger Prick Discrepancies

I guess I'm lucky to have small plastic testing strips. Thankfully it's 2017 and I don't have to struggle like some of yof may have with various implements over the years. Good luck with getting the upgrade The Rower lol

    Finger Prick Discrepancies

Hiya, I actually use the freestyle optium neo, and never had any adverse results before that one night I mentioned. Odd. I've had generally consistent results, all we can think of is that my hands may have been contaminated with something even though I've washed and dried well. I also...

    New diagnosis/confused Mum!!

Well, that's me right there. Was initially diagnosed with type 1 on Jan 5th this year. My blood tests (the expensive one in told) came back and I was told my pancreas is working normally. So I'm currently being weened off all insulin and been given metformin. (2000mg daily) to help kickstart my...

    Finger Prick Discrepancies

quick query. Just finger pricked an hour ago, test was 9.9 (I had a huge bowl of mixed fruit earlier as a treat) so that was expected to be high. Tested before bed an hour later and it was down to 5.7 which I thought odd. So tested again on another finger. Result was 8.3 this time. Tested...

Thank you. Appreciate the words and the support. Life can be cruel. People can be crueler. Thank you again Dancer.

Pinewoods answer is his opinion. I'm entitled to ask why me so soon after diagnosis. I do respect it and to be told on here how I should feel about my diagnosis is a little elitist. Yes I asked for opinions, I didn't ask for instructions on how to act/feel. I've had other problems over the...

I'm just glad I've a likeminded wife who is positive, regardless of the negatives and we're determined to not let this **** ruin our lives, we are going to embrace it, take it in, and become one with it, smiling as we go. Even when it's bad. Silver lining on everything.

What is the lowest your blood sugar has been?

Thanks for that mate, that explained it very clearly, and I thank you for the explanation, I've never been as low as one, lowest was two point eight. Good thing is I'm testing every few hours, more for peace of mind than anything else, learning patterns etc

Ahh I'm so glad you are being so positive, it's the only way to hit anything head on, and laughing of course. The positives of blood testing are immeasurable, I agree. So some good things do come from diabetes lol - always a silver lining.

    Hello!

Yeah, that and sounds like my experience without the added drama of docs chasing me down lol So how are you settling in a month later? Are you coping okay?

    1.8mmol hypo?

I've heard people talking about pumps, and at this moment in time, they worry me, again because I'm so new, I don't know enough about them. One day... I will. :-)

Yeah, we've been informed of the DAFNE course, only fleetingly - maybe that's so methinf we will be discussing tomorrow, but definitely we want to learn all we can. We time is something we will definitely do, we live for one another, so with this latest change, it's even more so important we...

Yeah, we have a good diary, with all my readings, plus it's all available on diasend digitally. I'm not carb counting no, they said just to eat as normal as I used to, which we are doing (healthy eating) roughly about 150g of carbs across my three meals daily. :-)

    1.8mmol hypo?

Right, well I've had a few of those before my diagnosis, this is the reason I'm worried more so now of having one, and making sure I go to sleep above 6.5 and testing through the night at intervals. Small price to pay to still be alive come the morning.
