Why worry about a splash of milk in tea/coffee ???

I have not had milk in tea or coffee for many, many years, the reason being without milk, tea and coffee taste as they should taste, milk just adulterates the beverage

    Covid vaccine

I have had both my jabs now [Astra Zeneca] 1st time a bit of a sore arm, 2nd nothing! To my knowledge, there is no causal link yet established, between blood clots and the vaccines. As of 5th April 2021 The European Medicines Agency (EMA) confirmed that it has not found any causal link between...

    Covid vaccine

As a T2 and over 70, I had the Oxford Astra Zeneca jab on Jan 24th, only a mild sore arm if I laid on it at night, that only lasted a couple of days. Having a sore arm is infinitely preferable to having coronavirus and becoming a statistic

As your skin is dry you need a good moisturiser, appropriate one's are available on prescription, I have discoid eczema and I use 'Aveeno' after showering which is wheat based, and 'Dermol' which is also a soap alternative, I use this whenever my skin is dry during the day. Forget about...

    Regular Blood/Sugar Monitoring vs. HbA1c

To me there is no conflict, I test twice a week, or if I eat something radically different it keeps me on the straight and narrow, I consider my six monthly HbA1c a confirmation of my regime.

UK importing meat from the USA

I doubt coffee would be successfully be grown in the UK outside of hothouses, as coffee is grown in equatorial regions of the Americas, Southeast Asia, Indian subcontinent, and Africa. As far as the EU goes, I voted against staying in the common market in 1975 [as 2016] I did not want to be...

    Nhs Heart Age

I do not give this test much credence, for one particular reason, I was not asked: a/ Do I exercise? b/ If so how much I am of the opinion that exercise is an important factor in heart "age"

    Testing - what - how - when

Many thanks for the info, I have been using the codefree, no problems however I am changing to the tee2 primarily for the free testing fluid. As a self tester, my GP practice denied me my prescription for strips, said I did not need them!

    Have I reversed my Diabetes?

I agree with rom35, at this time TD2 is not curable having a lower, more 'normal' HbA1c means that you are controlling the condition, that alone is well worth the effort. Keep up the good work.

    Blood glucose meter

I was told not to bother testing [I am not insulin dependant] However as far as I am concerned self test testing is pro-active, I test twice a week, unless I am not well, or am trying something new in my diet, this way I can see what is happening week by week, otherwise I would be waiting for my...

    Which meter should I get?

My GP practice used to provide test strips and lancets, last year decided that I did not require them and they would save money! I then switched from braun to codefree, apart from the cost, I received codefree strips within two day's, bayer would take a matter of weeks when I purchased items...

    Lost bloods!!

I did say to the doctor, not my GP but the diabetic clinic doctor, it was an agreed decision not to have another HbA1c blood test, as my previous results have been very stable

    Lost bloods!!

Went for my six monthly check last week, asked the nurse what was my HbA1c, she looked at the computer screen 'normal' to which I replied what on earth does that mean, shrug of shoulders. Then on to the doctor, I asked him about the 'normal' reading, he then went into the hospital lab site, no...

    and now statins

I have to correct you hen you state that statins have no beneficial effects unless you have had a heart attack. People with FH [Familial Hypercholesterolmia]a genetic condition where the liver produces too much cholesterol, require statins to stay alive! I have FH and have been on statins since...
