    Anyone with Metformin Problems??

Hi, when I was first diagnosed my vet put me on Std Met. It made me feel depressed, and having suffered with that previously I came off them immediately. Then I was put on Ramipril which had me running to the toilet every hour. So came off them. The vet then asked me to try slow release Met...

    Sick to death of Doctors.

After all the trouble I have had in the last 2-3 years with this damned illness, and the side effects of Ramipril and then Metformin, I finally see a Doctor who listens to what I am telling him, or so I thought. Takes me off Metformin, and I tell him about the weight loss I have had since going...

    Low carbing and other stuff.

Started doing the low carb thing about 3 weeks ago. Well, my version of it, helped by Slimming World red days. When I started, my weight was 21st. exactly. Got weighed last night, and am down to 20st 5lb. Feeling quite pleased with that. Also went to see the vet, and told him about the problems...

    Struggling with this

It seems I may have upset someone. Well the someone upset me. So may be as well if I keep off this forum for a while, and allow feelings to cool down. Sorry if I've given offence. None was intended. Goodbye.

    Struggling with this

Thanks to all who have replied. Some of the meal plans are interesting, but.................... they all contain large amounts of veg, the bulk of which I cannot tolerate. The stuff I tend to live on goes like this. Bacon and eggs, roast beef, (peppered or otherwise) roast pork. new potatoes...

    Struggling with this

It's the slow release that I'm on. When I was first diagnosed about 3 years ago, I was on the other type. That made me depressed, and having suffered from depression in the past there was no way I was going to go back chemically induced. And therein lies the crux. All these vets do is shove ever...

    Struggling with this

I seem to be going round and round in circles. I keep reading stuff on here, trying to get food ideas, but it seems to me that unless you eat leafy veg, cauliflower, cabbage , sprouts etc, and salads you're never going to turn this round. The only veg I like are carrots, peas sweetcorn and...

    Feeling overwarm

Last night had a much better night, got a good amount of sleep, although up twice to go to toilet. Spoke to the Pharmacist at the surgery, and explained all the symptoms to him. He just smiled and "Tramadol" and "you should be ok in a couple of weeks." Suspicions confirmed.

    Diabetic Nurse -

When I was first diagnosed, having seen the vet, he told me to make an apt with the D.N. So I did, for about a week later. Goes to the apt where I was told she would explain to me how to use the BG meter. So I go in for the apt and she produces this BG meter, starts fiddling about with it, then...

    Feeling overwarm

Thanks to everyone who has replied. The thing that stood out for me was the mention of Tramadol, as I have just come off that a week ago, after 3 months. That was in relation to my sciatica, which hopefully has now cleared up. I was much better last night, just struggling to get to sleep a bit...

    Feeling overwarm

Hi folks, just recently I have been having episodes of feeling very warm when laid in bed. Not so warm that I'm sweating, but just uncomfortable. So I throw the covers off, and in no time I'm cold. So then the covers go back on etc, etc. Just wondered if this could be anything to do with...

    Enough

Jonno1980, I'm sitting here reading your posts, and I have tears in my eyes. I've had depression 10 years ago, and had it bad, so I have some understanding of what you're going through. TBH, I think that D is worse than what we have, (although I'm T2.) You clearly need a lot of help, from...

Hospital advised GP I shouldn't be driving?!?!?

Hi London36 can I suggest that if you're really worried about this contact the DVLA for correct advice. Also, are you a professional driver? ie buses lorries or taxies?. If not I wouldn't worry too much. I'm a Bus driver, and if I have any issues I go to Occ Health at work. I get much better...

I had thought about that, but I have an increasing lack of faith in all things NHS. Example, I'm 6ft tall and tipping the scales at 21st, so I kind of think that I might get a similar response from another one. After all, all the doctors you see seem to be about 5'9" and weigh about 9 stone. and...

Just wondered if there's anywhere to go to get your cholesterol tested, other than at the Docs. Would like to know what my reading is, then if it's normal I could ask the question.................. Why have you put me on statins when my cholesterol is normal? Any ideas anyone ?

Liam1955, thanks for the link to Diet Doctor. Just had a look at it with my wife, and while there are some minor difficulties with some of the menus, I think that we can adapt to suit my particular needs. Good advice, thank you

    Confused.

Hello Catapillar, many thanks for taking the time to explain those things to me. Very helpful. As I'm T2, it seems that the Russian car does not affect me. hba1c,that obviously refers to the figure 80 that the Doc quoted at me. Once again many thanks.

    Confused.

Hi Daisy 1 yes I read your message and had a look through the info on the links. Just seems a hell of a lot to wade through and I'm not the most patient of people. In the mean time I'm giving the Slimming world Red days plan another try. I did it some years ago and lost a good bit of weight, so...

    Confused.

Hi. Since joining yesterday, I am becoming increasingly confused with all the different phrases being used. Considering that I was diagnosed over 2 years ago, there is much I don't understand. LADA, I thought that was a Russian car. MMOL ? A1 something or other? Apart from my past reluctance to...
