Pickle? It's full of sugar!sweet pickle
I would imagine if you type in "private blood tests" into Google you will find an answer!Just wondered if there's anywhere to go to get your cholesterol tested, other than at the Docs. Would like to know what my reading is, then if it's normal I could ask the question.................. Why have you put me on statins when my cholesterol is normal?
Any ideas anyone ?
Why not just go to the doc get tested and then see the results.. you aren't under any compulsion to take drugs even if your doc tries to argue that you should. No need for a private test. Its all up to you.Just wondered if there's anywhere to go to get your cholesterol tested, other than at the Docs. It works out at about 1gm of carbs extra per sandwich to add the sweet pickle.Pickle? It's full of sugar!
You should ask your GP surgery for a printout of your blood test results if they aren't accessible online (as they should be).Just wondered if there's anywhere to go to get your cholesterol tested, other than at the Docs. Just joined tonight, was diagnosed about 2 and half years ago, and have really struggled with all this. My doctor does nothing but play hell with me, but never tells me anything useful. I have real issues with vegetables, (can only stomach carrots, peas, sweetcorn and occasionally a bit of broccoli. I am a total salad dodger, I cannot abide any of that stuff. The very thought of it makes me feel sick. I'm taking Glimepiride, Metformin, and Atorvastatin. I don't really know what the 1st is for, I think the statin is supposed to be for cholesterol,,(but can't recall ever being tested for that. The Metformin is giving me dreadful diarrhoea. So much so that last Nov I ended up having a colonoscopy. which found nothing wrong. The rest of the time I think I'm keeping the manufacturers of Immodium going single handed. On top of all this for the last year I've been living with Sciatica, tinnitus and arthritis. All the doctor does is offer me a referral to a dietician, which I've done before and it's all salads and veg. I've told him this but I'd get more response from my pet cat. So far the only thing I've found recently that has any good effect is low carbs.
I'm sorry for being such a miserable sod. If anyone out there has any useful ideas I 'd be pleased to hear.
Thank you, horrible al
I had thought about that, but I have an increasing lack of faith in all things NHS. Example, I'm 6ft tall and tipping the scales at 21st, so I kind of think that I might get a similar response from another one. After all, all the doctors you see seem to be about 5'9" and weigh about 9 stone. and seem to have little idea of the issues we face.Hi Al!
Perhaps it could be time to find a new doctor? a more sympathetic one with a new, fresh approach to you. Just an idea.
Where to look online? You should ask your GP surgery for a printout of your blood test results if they aren't accessible online (as they should be).
The breakdown of the total cholesterol figure into HDL, LDL and triglycerides and their ratios to each other are more important than the total figure.
Some GPs (including mine) go on the total Cholesterol figure, which NHS guidelines say should be less than 4 for a Type 2 diabetic, but other doctors say this is meaningless, and the ratios of 'good' to 'bad' cholesterol is more relevant.
Where to look online?
The NHS said that all GP surgeries should allow patients to access their medical records online, from April 2016. But some are still not online. The surgery website. You need to ask reception for access and passwords which take 7 days.
