Have a look through Daisy's post to new member if you haven't already. It is possible to reduce the meds your on by making alterations to your diet, if that's what you choose to do

All I can say is what worked for me.
I've dieted all my adult life, tried everything, had some success but always ended up putting it back on and more. Then last december I was diagnosed with type 2 db.
After finding this forum (yey) I set about testing my bloods...
Unfortunately, Defren isn't here to tell us what she thinks, implies, believes,
I for one hope, if the ban stays, she doesn't decide enough is enough, as I think she has helped many people.

started to answer this from the point of view of a T2 then double checked on the NICE advice for T1's and yep it says <10 2 hours after food

If it's not acceptable how can we share our experiences of what's worked for us - whatever that is!
Otherwise the forum may as well not exist and everyone may as well follow the NHS **** advice and then we can deal with the complications later.

I can't say it's jumped out at me that people are 'always' going on about complications.
One of the first things I googled on diagnosis was 'complications' I wanted to know what might happen to me.

I organised my own follow-up tests at 3 and 6 months.
the 3 month one was no issue as it was to see if I could continue on diet.
The 6 month one, the nurse asked why I was having them as the doctor hadnt requested them, i explained it was as I'd been low-carbing and I needed to make sure...
