Banging your head against a brick wall

Can’t say I’m sorry I missed those days, but I’m glad treatment for it has updated so much, when I was first diagnosed it was insulin pens and the doctors telling me if I got my bloods under control well enough I would only have to blood test two times a week! I’m already having to look at...

Banging your head against a brick wall

Our bodies really do like making life that little bit more difficult for us, don’t they? Oof, I hope your back feels better soon, and you’re so right. Sometimes it helps to scream into the void, even if the void doesn’t respond XD.

Banging your head against a brick wall

Tell me about it, it really feels like doctors think we’re some kind of machines, Christ I don’t think I’ve had two days in a week where my bolus has been the same! What do they think you eat the exact same carb quantity every day? I know some diabetics use low carb diets and are strict with...

Banging your head against a brick wall

Personally I’ve found the accuracy to be pretty good, I had problems when I first started using it but having spoken to my Medtronic representative who is diabetic himself and uses the sensor I followed his advice of inserting the sensor in my arm the same way you do the libre rather than in the...

Banging your head against a brick wall

Honestly it varies hugely. Some days it can be about 40g, some days it can be 100+. And it doesn’t seem to necessarily affect my bloods.

Banging your head against a brick wall

I’m on the Guardian Sensor 3 with the Medtronic 640 pump which in themselves are a hassle. The sensor causes me problems regularly, the only reason I’m still on it rather than requesting to go back on the libre is that it talks to the pump and can suspend my basal if I happen to drop too low...

Banging your head against a brick wall

18 years of diabetes and I’m once again at the point of wanting to bang my head against a brick wall, it always feels like I’m 10 steps behind my body. I was put on a CGM and pump combination earlier in the year and it’s made me realise how frequently my body changes, in a week my body can...

Medical Exemption Certificate- Who do I need to go to to get one?

Well that was interesting, I went to pick one up and asked the nurse if she could look up my NHS number- she outright refused telling me she was busy. Got home to fill it in- the moron gave me a MATERNITY exemption certificate so now I have to go back to get another one!

    Flying with a pump..

I travel by air regularly and have never had an issue with it, I make sure to have a letter from my diabetic doctor every time I fly, make sure it's on headed paper and has your name and the clinic's contact details on it. You will end up being swabbed but they've never insisted that I put my...

Medical Exemption Certificate- Who do I need to go to to get one?

Thanks everyone, I'll pop in on the way home from work today and pick a form up. It's a little concerning that this isn't explained as soon as diabetics turn 18 considering this is such a big deal. I'll post again if there are any problems! [emoji1]

Medical Exemption Certificate- Who do I need to go to to get one?

When collecting my prescription, I was always aware of the fact that I was ticking the box that said I was under 18. When I hit this age and went to collect my first prescription, I told my pharmacist that I couldn't tick this box anymore so she told me just to tick box E- I have a valid...

Anyone know what might be up with me?

No, the doctors didn't say anything about any of my levels being too high, I wish they had to be honest, would've made it a simple fix! You would be right in that assumption. I was diagnosed back in 2001, I was 3, so I've got my act together and know how I react pretty well. My last HBA1c was...

Anyone know what might be up with me?

It's getting to that point I think, my GP seems a bit hesitant to do any kind of referral for me, but I'm getting desperate!

Anyone know what might be up with me?

I take a general multivitamin, an omega 3, 6 and 12 capsule, nutritional yeast flakes with vitamin B12, nettle, sea buckthorn, ginger, goldenseal, berberine and turmeric tinctures. The GP did test to make sure my I wasn't low on anything, the only level that came back a bit low was vitamin D...

Which is best. More Basal or more Bolus?

It sounds like a cop out answer, but if you know what works for your body, then stick to it. You know yourself more than any doctor. I believe my own basal is around 14 units? I just adjust up or down to accommodate what my body needs, I don't care what this doctor says. It's ridiculous and...

Anyone know what might be up with me?

I've had numerous tests, the only name I remember was a synacthen test, the others had long names that I couldn't hope to remember. I'm actually a vegan, so it can't be dairy, and I go carb free quite often to check my basal rate it correct and that doesn't seem to affect it. I don't think it's...

Anyone know what might be up with me?

Thanks for the help, It seems I'm always able to stump people, my body really likes tormenting me, and help can come from people who may think that their advice is useless! Hopefully someone's had something similar and found a cure...

Anyone know what might be up with me?

Hi! My bloods before bed are normally between 6-8 around 10:30pm-11:30pm, any lower and I make sure to have a small amount of long term carb as I can't risk not being able to drive into work. When I wake up I'm normally between 5-7, and I was up and check my bloods between 6:30am and 6:45am.

    Help! I'm going to Japan!

Hi! I actually went to Japan last year for 3 weeks, and we just treated it like any other holiday. Ever since we've gone abroad we just make sure to take as much non-perishable food with us as possible, if you use fruit pastels, then pack as many packets as will fit around your luggage, both...
