    Three-way split Levemir?

I found Levemir to be fairly useless, a fact that was truly illuminated when I switched to Tresiba. Since then, my numbers have been consistently under 7. If I were you, I'd get a different basal insulin.

    Change of diagnosis

Yes, same thing happened to me. Seems that if you aren't a child, they don't routinely check for antibodies, even when the Type 2 drugs aren't working. Very frustrating since LADA info. is easily found online and so you'd expect that the doctors would also know to check. I'm glad that you have a...

    GAD test results

The same thing happened to me. I don't know that the actual levels are important. What they indicate is. In other words, GAD are antibodies which confirms that you are in the Type 1 "family" of auto-immune diabetes and will be treated differently than a Type 2. Also, this type of diabetes...

    Using Symlin

I began using Symlin recently and it's been a godsend at helping me to finally feel full after eating (preventing overeating and weight gain.) However, I'm having trouble managing its use with insulin. The directions on the package aren't helpful. Initially, I gave myself 15 units 5-10 minutes...

    Using Symlin

I just started using Symlin and although I take 5-10 minutes before eating and dose Novlog 1/2 hour after eating, I am experiencing sticky highs all day long which don't respond to correction. Instead during the night when sleeping, I have multiple hypos sometimes 6-8 hours after my last dose of...

Personal experience of the benefits of using a pump against pens

I also have been on Omnipod Dash for about nine months. I will not continue when I run out. While the convenience is certainly attractive, there is too much variability in the proper function of the pump. I never know, when my blood glucose begins to rise, whether it's because I ate the wrong...

Is anyone on oral meds and insulin?

Hi, Did you have your blood checked for the antibody? That would determine whether you're type 1 or 2 and seems to me to be the first place to start to get proper treatment. As an aside, I found the Levemir was very ineffective in providing proper basal control.

When is the right time for insulin

Hi Millie! The exact thing happened to me. Seems that if you're not a child, the medical profession has a hard time believing that you're in the Type 1 category. It took me 5 years to get a correct diagnosis and, like you, I had to research and then ask for the GAD65 antibody test, which...

    Pilates or Yoga

If you have to choose, yoga is more well rounded as it provides benefits for strength, balance, flexibility and also stress reduction. I do it everyday and it makes a world of difference in my life. However, I would try both and see which one appeals to you more. Like someone else said, do...

Pioneering World-first Type 1 Diabetes Drug Trial Begins In Wales

How would this drug work against the GAD 65 antibody which kills the beta cells in the first place. I'm not an M.D. but it seems to me you'd have to do something about the antibody first, wouldn't you?

How not to fart on low carb ???

According to Ayurveda, wind is a result of too much Vatta. Vatta is very dry. Soooo, I would recommend cooking your foods (no raw) and adding lots of oil to line the digestive tract. This should make a big dif.

Getting hypo alerts with libre, blucon and xDrip+

I keep trying to calibrate and it says, "not enough recent sensor data, cancelling." I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Turning off and turning on. Rebooting the sensor's pairing with xdrip and it keeps coming back to the same thing. Any ideas?

Getting hypo alerts with libre, blucon and xDrip+

Scot C.-Your explanations on how to use the Bluecon were perfect. I got mine up and running with no problem by just following what you wrote very carefully. Thanks so much for posting this. Now I have everything that the Dexcom does for one tenth of the price, thanks to you!

Getting hypo alerts with libre, blucon and xDrip+

fasting raises your bg because when u fast and have t2d you not only have to take into account the carbs your body has not used and has stored as glycogen but all the excess lean protein you have ingested (which is high levels of protein to low levels of saturated fat) that your body has not...

    Life with Libre

I've come into this conversation a little late, it seems. What is the blue con and where can I get it? Can you provide a web link, please?

    Life with Libre

Has anyone tried putting the sensor on another part of the body (besides upper arm) like the stomach? If so, did it work OK there?

Type 1 Freestyle libre or Dexcom

I have a Libre and love it. The only disadvantage is that it has no alarm to alert you to hypoglycemia. The advantage is that I believe it's a lot cheaper than the Dexcom both initially and in buying the sensors. Libre only needs to change every two weeks, Dexom weekly. The Libre makes you...

    FREESTYLE LIBRE still not sure

I have the Libre and love it. I noticed that one of you affixed it to your chest. Have others of you used different parts of the body than the upper arm? If so, did it work effectively despite the location? I was thinking about putting it on my stomach during summer so that it's not so visible.
