    Type 1 Retinopathy/Maculopathy

Hello, I have been type one diabetic for 26 years and have always been fairly well controlled. I have never had any problems, which I was hoping would last for a while longer. Until, my eye appointment this year. He diagnosed a tiny clot, and a very small spot on the macular (same eye)...

    Medtronic keeps coming disconnected

Hello, Posting on behalf of my mum. She has a Medtronic 640g and it keeps coming disconnected when she either gets her hand stuck in it (she has had a stroke, so doesnt find things easy) or it comes out overnight. She currently uses micropore to tape it down, which isn’t ideal. She used to...

Macular something and a massive wobble!

Ahhh okay, see I haven’t got any vision problems at all with it. The letters on the last line of the chart were blurry, but just readable. Maybe if it causes me issues they will do something about it x x x

Macular something and a massive wobble!

Thank you for your reply. How long between diagnosis and treatment? He said it’s a tiny spot (?) and he’s see me in a year? Should I push for treatment? What is the treatment?

Macular something and a massive wobble!

This may or may not sound like a massive overreaction… but I had my eye clinic appointment last week and he said there was a small spot on the macular (I think). He said macular something, but I can’t remember what he said. He was very hard to understand, and didn’t really explain anything...

    Half marathon hopes

Hello! I’m a type one and have been for 22 years (I’ll be 32 next week). I’ve recently taken up running (as well as lower carb meals) for weight loss after my 3 babies, and to fit into my wedding dress- married in August. My Hba1c is okay- 7.2 mmol last time, but I’m hoping it’s under 7 when...

    Pump problems

Just an update too... I have stopped using my stomach for now, yet I’m still having these problems. So it doesn’t look like a site issue.

    Pump problems

Thank you. I’m even considering going back on insulin pens. I just can’t do this anymore. I’ve had enough of them being so unreliable. To begin with they were great, but now I’m having highs every other day because of them. I’m at clinic in about 2 weeks so I will speak to them then. X

    DKA SCARE!

Thank you all for your replies. I like it when people update, so I’ll do one! I was fine the next day. I think because I caught and treated earlyish. I think ketones went up SO quickly because I had been for a brisk walk pushing the pram (late for school pick up!) and I think I was sick...

    DKA SCARE!

Hello, I was just wondering if you could do me a post please... I’ve been type one for 21 years and had my first brush with DKA yesterday! It was scary! My Omnipod had come out while I did the school run- my sugar was 7.8 before the school run and 19.8 with 1.5 ketones on my return! (We were...

    Pump problems

Thank you for your reply. Yeah it is definitely a reaction I have as it’s so red round the cannula. I will give changing every 2 days a go and see if that helps! It’s just SO frustrating! The pump with wires isn’t for me, that’s why chose the Omnipod. I think if I came off it I’d go back to...

    Pump problems

I have the Omnipod, and when it works- it’s great! But I constantly seem to have problems with high blood sugars and I know I have bolused right etc. It seems that every 2-2.5 days I will have a high (16mmol) that I just CANNOT get down. Today I had this after lunch, I noticed a red patch round...

    Coffee and insulin requirements

No, never heard of this or had that problem I’m afraid. I do think it’s more likely to be down to the chest infection and sometimes when your sugar level goes past w certain point it can be very stubborn to come back down. If it’s just an instant coffee with milk then I can’t imagine that’s the...

    Women’s problems!!

Hello! I’ve been type one for 21 years now... I’ve been on hormonal contraceptives since I was 15 and I’ve had 3 children in amongst that. (2 living and one angel- not diabetes related.) on the whole my control is good, but I had my daughter almost a year ago and I had the copper coil inserted...

    Omnipod Issues

Thank you for your reply. I used to use skin tac wipes, but have found I don’t need them as the adhesive is actually sticking, it’s just cannula problems I’m having. They used to peel off- but now they stick fast but the cannula isn’t as deep as it should be. This started happening during...
