    Appalled at experiments on dogs

To all those who are so appalled at drug testing on dogs just read about Banting and Best and be thankful. If it was not for them, insulin would not be available to save your life.

Can't seem to control Blood Sugars

Hello magicaldebs I had a similar problem. It took weeks to get the blood sugars back to near where they should be. The GP surgery was not too sympathetic and I was told that maybe the virus/infection knocked out more beta cells. That may be the case but my BS levels are improving over 8...

Has anyone tried the drug dapagliflozin? If so, how did you get on? Is it too new for any feedback?

    Radio Four - lunchtime today

Just heard the discussion. The Diab UK dietician was not very persuasive and did not seem to mention that some type 2 diabetics take insulin. Dr Briffa comments made a lot of sense - we don't all need so many carbohydrates. At last someone seems to understand the relationship between to many...

    change in medication

Hi Back on repaglinide for the moment and feel better. Asked about Bydureon but was told it is not available for all and only for those who are very overweight. I am sure the NICE guidelines have said it should be available and not just for the overweight. Is this a case of moneysaving in...

    Gliclazide

As you might have seen, I am having problems with this medication. I have taken myself off it and feel a lot better. I had some repaglinide left and have gone back on them. Don't know what the GP will say next week when I have my appointment. What side effects did you have?

Open University course >>> Diabetes Care >>> SK120

I thought it a very good course but then I did have an excellent course tutor. I found the course gave me a fuller understanding of diabetes which enabled me, until recently, to speak to the GP and HCP's with a better level of knowledge. Having taken other OU courses, much does depend on the...

    change in medication

Thanks for your responses. Carb intake is low. Patient leaflet does mention nausea. Now have an appointment for next week with doctor. Can I insist I am put back on repaglinide which seemed to suit me even though HBA1c was 8.3?

    change in medication

I was recently changed from repaglinide to gliclazide as my gp said it would improve my blood sugars. Since the change, I feel sick most of the day, have an awful taste in my mouth and generally don't feel as healthy as I did. My blood sugars are higher when I test which is a cause of worry...
