    Tandem vs Medtrum nano

Hi Becky, I've been using the Nano since it first came out last year along with the Dexcom G6. First of all the Dexcom is streets ahead of the Freestyle; much more accurate with very rare failures. It's unobtrusive, so much so that when I have to change it I often can't remember where it's...

    Dexcom G6 - Amazingly Accurate

Hi, and please excuse the long post. I've been using the Dexcom G6 since August last year on an NHS Scotland trial. You're right, it is a game changer but be warned: Dexcom are very slow at getting the apps up to date and this means that most iPhones carrying the latest iOS are incompatible...

Important/ urgent info for Spike app users

Thanks Mel. I'll go for that when MM arrives. Like you, I find the Omnipod with Libre has changed my diabetic control 100% and I thought I was OK before... In the 40 odd years I've been T1 the changes now, although needing a lot more personal control - never a bad thing - are getting us all on...

Important/ urgent info for Spike app users

Hi, as someone who's just ordered the MM (not arrived yet) and who'd also been looking forward to a bit of seamless integration with the iPhone and Apple watch, has anyone got any tips for the best apps to use now? Haven't installed the Spike app yet anyway...Chances are the Apple compatibility...

NHS vs NHS-Scotland: Who Treats T1s better?

Hi, I'm under NHS Highland (in Scotland) and have been on an Omnipod for one year. As you'll know the control is hugely improved on it and the health service are right behind it. This week I'm going onto the Freestyle Libre, also funded by the health board. It might help from our point of view...

Just Found Out I’m Pregnant [emoji33]

Congratulations to you; I'm sure all will go well with help from your team and you. I've been type 1 for 40 years and had two sets of twins and one after that so know all about the highs and lows. One thing I remember being surprised by is how quickly your sugar levels can drop. The baby takes...

    Omnipod Or Medtronic 640?

How I wish there were other choices... It beggars belief how long insulin pumps have been on the go and how bulky and out of date they are. Carting around the Omnipod is a bit like a Dom Jolly sketch with the massive mobile phone. When you think of a smartphone with oodles of technology packed...

    Recipe to compare with GlucoJuice?

Having been diabetic for forty years, Jelly Babies were always my go-to. I was just wondering if anyone had a liquid format recipe that I could pinch for these low days that would also chime with the pump's need for accuracy. I'm essentially being an idle - and tight - git!

    Recipe to compare with GlucoJuice?

Having been on a pump for a bit now and occasionally needing to use the eye-wateringly expensive GlucoJuice to get me out of a hypo quickly without spiking, I feel that someone is making one heck of a lot of dosh out of what is basically 15g of quick-release glucose. Annoyingly it works for me...

    Flying via Heathrow (body scanner)

Like you I fly a lot and there's a good chance you'll be exposed to the body scanners depending on where you're flying to. Simplest thing is to just ask your Diabetes specialist to write you a note saying that you mustn't be scanned because of your pump and then they'll do it manually. Mmmm.

CGM devices found to reduce hypos in type 1 diabetes with hypo unawareness

That is good news and utterly unsurprising. I understand that we are at a (fairly) early stage with CGM devices, despite them having been around for some time now for those who want/need to pay for them. However it has proven very difficult to convince health boards that these are probably...

    Start towards a pump.

Like @jimmysmith it's often been suggested that I get a pump as I sometimes have hypos out on the hill with the dogs (and I work a few night shifts a month which can be a pain). What puts me right off is having something so bulky permanently attached. I've been Type 1 for 40 years and (at least...
