    Cholesterol Levels

Hi, hope someone can help me :) My husband is a T2 and we discovered low carb high fat last year and it has been brilliant for his sugars and he is down to an acceptable level although the doc did highlight his cholesterol was a bit high. Anyway my question was for me actually - because I now...

    Low carb milk shakes

rtee, they're very cute ice cubes ;) Patch, you beat me to it! Pretty much every day we have a smoothie for brekkie made from strawberries, blackberries, rasps and blueberries, pour in a serious dollop of double cream, a bit of Almond Milk and a good spoonful of Total yoghurt, whizz it all...

    Need to stop weight loss

My hubby started LCHF back in Feb and has got his BG's down to a good level. He has lost about 1-5 - 2 stone as a result of this which to start with was good but we are now a bit concerned that it is still coming off (albeit a lot slower now) and he is getting too thin. I am giving him high...

    Airline Meals

Diadeb, you have no chance of getting a low carb meal on a flight! We regularly fly across the atlantic and even their vegetarian meals are rice or pasta based. Seeing as you are only 3 hours I would suggest giving it all a miss. What we do on our 10 hour flights is pack a few Baby Bel's...

Got talking to a woman in the docs.............

Paul, We had a visit to the dietician the other week, hubby's hbA1C is down to 6.1 from 9.? earlier in the year so they are pleased with that at the surgery but his cholesterol is a bit high so they wanted him to talk to the dietician (surgery pretty impressed with his LCHF). Dietician said...

going to usa soon any advice would help please

We live in Texas part of the year and can confirm you will be able to buy all the products you listed in the Grocery Stores. You are right, generally their bread is highly sugared, you will find some low carb breads though in the speciality sections, there is a brand called Ezeckial (sp) found...

Broke my diet but - nothing!

An example of hubby's diet: Tonight we cycled to a restaurant on the beach, about 5 miles there. He had a bottle of cider, we shared a Garlic Bread (ciabatta about the size of a slice of bread but thicker) each and he had liver with mash - he did leave a little mash. Cycled home. BG after...

Broke my diet but - nothing!

My hubby had really high readings earlier this year, mid teens generally. We discovered LCHF and his readings came down quite quickly. His recent HBA1C was 6.1 - down from 12 last year! I have noticed though that he seems to be able to tolerate carbs these days, not in quantity but one slice...

    Worried!

I would say that is an OK reading for an hour after eating. The fasting one will give you a better idea though. Let us know what it comes back as.

    Worried!

Forgot to say you need to eat normally to get a proper reading so make sure you DO eat this evening

    Worried!

I noticed a sign in our local Tesco that they are doing diabetes tests, I guess it is a bg test with the meter? I suggest you go somewhere early morning after fasting for 12 hours, so just eat your dinner etc as normal and see what your fasting BG is. How long after you had eaten was your 6.8...

    Safe lunch options in USA

I have to disagree with you here. As I said we split our time between living here (UK) and USA. I think us Brits have the perception that all Americans are fat; that is not the case. I would agree that there is a lot of the real big people but I would have to say as a very rough perception...

    Safe lunch options in USA

We split our time between living in the USA & UK and let me tell you it is far far easier to eat out for a 'low carber' in US than it is here! Salads everywhere, will substitute foods from menus and lots of places even have low carb sections! :)

    Blood sugar hard to stabilise

Great results there, isn't it fab to see them tumble when we start eating the 'right' things :) Just a side note, banana's are not good :( One of the worst fruits there is which is a shame as they are so yummy! My hubby (T2) had his first banana yesterday in months which we shared - we were...

Couple of questions - high fasting reading & weight loss

Thanks guys :) I think he is being a bit of a slave to the scales and I agree his weight will steady at some point. Been making him eat more cheese and nuts this last day or so! Fortunately he isn't keen on cashews so we're OK there, they're my favourite but I'm OK to eat them (this low carb...

Couple of questions - high fasting reading & weight loss

Hi, I'm sure I really already know the answers to these two questions but if anyone could help I would be grateful :) Hubby is long term T2 recently under control with low carb. He was dropped down to 1 x 500mg SR metformin a day after years of really high readings after we discovered LCHF...

Can you stop or treat neuropathy?

Same as above - hubbys neuropathy disappeared with low carb diet (he had had it for years and we had no idea what it was  ) It does flare up immediately if he has a high carb day!
