    VICTOZA users

I've been on Victoza for a couple of days now. My specialist wanted to get me off Humalog which was very unpredictable for me. So she gave me prescriptions for both Janumet and Victoza since one is more expensive than the other and it could be my choice. Since the pharmacist said there was no...

    Type 2 Low carb spaghetti/noodles

It can be referred to as konjac root or yam powder. They're the same thing. There are some brands out there that add extra ingredients which really increase the carb count. It should be no more than 1 net carb per serving. I am SO incredibly glad I found these. I've always loved pasta and these...

    How does IF effect FBG?

I used to have that problem too. I skip breakfast every day, but you can always have things like coffee and bone broth. They won't break your fast, and that might make a difference. Are you on any medication?

    New Atkins Diet

Maybe it meant starchy (below ground) carbs? I don't follow Atkins, but I don't know of any good eating regimes that don't recommend as many above ground veggies as you want. I say go for it - we need them!

    Exercise and Increased Sugar Levels

I have a feeling that once his sleep improves, so will his numbers. Keep in mind that I'm not a doctor, but that's my experience. My doctor told me that lack of sleep can definitely have that effect. I've read that it puts more stress on the body, which causes more cortisol to be released, which...

    Exercise and Increased Sugar Levels

Is 6.5 his level now, or at diagnosis. I've had insomnia for months, and that's really doing a number on my numbers.

    Exercise and Increased Sugar Levels

I've noticed with myself that if my sugar levels are already quite high and/or I'm not sleeping well, that exercise can increase my numbers.

Do exercise spikes affect hba1c? Microalbumin levels?

Since I developed insomnia, I found that exercise not only didn't reduce my bg, quite often it raised it. My only explanation was that lack of sleep was already putting stress on my body and my numbers, and the exercise was just putting stress on an already stressed system.

You also might want to look into magnesium supplements. Most people are deficient in this, diabetics in particular. In fact, magnesium deficiency may be a contributing factor toward T2. It's supposed to help regulate sugar levels. My bg levels have been as high as yours, higher in fact, and...

    Confused.com

Well, to find a silver lining in this, at least you're T2 instead of T1. There's a very realistic hope of putting this into remission. I know low-carb eating has helped a lot of people here (myself included), so you may want to read up on it. Here's a list of food info you might find helpful...

    Very high blood glucose

Have you ever tried magnesium? I read about it and how it can help with sleep, so I started taking it last week. It hasn't really helped with sleep too much, but I'm amazed at how much it's helped my bg numbers. I've pretty much stopped taking insulin at night because of these lows I've been...

    Cauliflower rice

I made some pan stir-fried cauli-rice tonight with sesame oil (it gives a nice nutty flavor to it) and scrambled an egg into it just like you get at the restaurants. And I made myself some nice veggie chop suey to go with it. Delicious!

    Something fatty and sweet?

These are excellent too. Put in the amount of cream cheese that you see in the video (about half a package) as opposed to what is listed in the ingredients.

    Something fatty and sweet?

Put one ripe avocado into a blender along with 1/3 cup cocoa powder, some unsweetened almond milk (amount depends on how thick you want it), and some stevia to taste. Voila, chocolate pudding that tastes like the real thing. Whip up some real whipping cream (with sweetener if you like), and you...

    Lantus drops and vitamins/minerals

I found my blood sugar improved quite a bit after I started on magnesium. I've reduced my Lantus.

    New Years Eve transgression

Thanks everyone! I'm glad I'm not alone in this. I know that 13 is quite high, but I actually started off close to 7 yesterday (insomnia's been giving me some grief). I completely forgot to test myself prior to eating, but I was probably around 8 or 9 when I started. That's why I thought my...

    New Years Eve transgression

For the first time since diagnosed, I let myself lapse a bit for New Years Eve. We ordered Chinese food, and the place we order it from is really good about leaving out cornstarch, flour from chow mein and veggie dishes as much as possible. Lemon chicken was also ordered, complete with sugar...

    Very high blood glucose

Illness and lack of sleep can definitely have an impact. I know from personal experience how much insomnia and stress can raise those levels.

Was in hospital last week Ketoacidosis..now?

It sounds like you have a lot on your plate right now, and it can be a lot to sort through. Are you sleeping ok? I know from personal experience that lack of sleep can really drive up the numbers. I'm still trying to get the insomnia under control. Good luck to you. It'll all get sorted out.
