    Bit freaked out by symptoms

It's really best to get the glucose tolerance test done at the doctor's office. I recommend a 3 hr glucose tolerance test. What this means is that when you go in, in the morning without eating anything, they take your blood and send it to the lab for your fasting glucose. Then, they give you...

Type 2 Diabetes Under Control But Still Excessive Thirst & Urination

I do have a blood glucose meter. I've decided to limit my water consumption tomorrow. According to my weight I'm only supposed to drink 2 liters. I will also avoid caffeine tomorrow. If I don't get dehydrated with 2 liters and feel fine, and if my urine looks okay (not extremely dark), then I...

Type 2 Diabetes Under Control But Still Excessive Thirst & Urination

My last A1C was fine. I don't remember what it was but it was in the normal range. I don't know if I'm addicted to water. I don't think so because I only drink when I feel thirsty. Diabetes does cause dry mouth and it may be that I'm drinking to get rid of the dry mouth feeling. In winter I...

Type 2 Diabetes Under Control But Still Excessive Thirst & Urination

Hello everyone, I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes several years ago. I'm in my late 20s. I take Metformin 850mg/day. My blood sugar readings are normal. Before I was diagnosed, I was always thirsty and urinating a lot. That has not changed since my diagnosis. I want to ask how normal is it...

Who else has issues with wheat?

Wow, it sounds like you really have a wheat intolerance. I never get diarrhea or cramps from wheat, just bloating, slow digestion and fatigue. I had hypothyroidism too. My thyroid seems to be better now, I've been taken off synthetic hormones as they were coming up too high in blood tests...

Who else has issues with wheat?

Like I said, I haven't read the book. But on his website, he makes connections between all sorts of health disorders and wheat intolerance. I don't think wheat can cause that many problems. It will cause digestive and metabolic problems...but I don't think it can be responsible for everything.

Who else has issues with wheat?

I make the mashed potatoes myself, it's not the powder variety. We can't even get that here in Turkey, so I guess that's good. I think French fries in moderation (6-7 piece), made at home with olive oil are okay too. I try to eat it with plain yogurt sauce (plain yogurt, salt and garlic..yum)...

What weight at type 2 diagnosis?

I was diagnosed when I was 25 and I was obese (70 kilos I think, I'm only 5'2''). I'm certain that my weight gain triggered an earlier diagnosis for me (I developed diabetes earliest in my extended family) but weight wasn't the only factor. I also had hypothyroidism when I was diagnosed and...

been low to zero carbs for over a week

if your blood sugar is high despite a strict weight and exercise program, i would assume that you either need to increase your medication dose or switch to a different treatment program. You should talk to your doctor about it. My mom was on a strict diabetic diet for about a year after she was...

Who else has issues with wheat?

I know that book. I haven't read it but looked at the website of the author. It was impressive, and I do think that I have a sensitivity to wheat. But I also felt that some of the conclusions and generalizations the author made about wheat was a bit over the top. If I can just control myself...

    low carb

I need to lower carbs too. My sugar is not high but I'm overweight and I'm not losing it because of the carbs. I also had hypothyroidism last year, it seems to be gone now, but maybe that's an issue. I can cut down on most things...bread is my main issue. When I don't eat carbs, I don't feel...

Who else has issues with wheat?

I've realized lately that my body doesn't do well on wheat at all. Whenever I eat bread, I become very bloated, my digestion slows down and I feel tired and sluggish. I don't get diarrhea or any other gluten intolerance symptom however. I can have 5-6 wheat crackers daily without problems, but...

    Drinking So Much Water :(

Thanks for your replies and sorry for not responding earlier! I was expecting an email when I get replies. My last HBA1c is 5,1. And I do self test at home. My hunger glucose levels are around 80-90mg/dl and after meal levels are around 98-110mg/dL. :D And now that I think about it, my...

    Drinking So Much Water :(

Hello, I'm new to the forum. I was diagnosed with type 2 several months ago. My question is about water consumption. When I first started taking Metformin, my excessive water consumption went down to normal and I could sleep through the night without having to go to the bathroom. I was taking...

Hello to the Forum, New Entry from Turkey

Hello everyone, I'm joining from the beautiful Mediterranean coast of Turkey. I'm a type 2 diabetic, was diagnosed just a few months ago. Had the symptoms from at least 3 years before that however. I'm 26. Diabetes appears to run in my family. Not sure if my grandparents had it, they were...
