    Treats On Low Carb?

I allow myself a couple of treats from time to time. My favourite is 90% dark chocolate with a dollop if sugar free peanut butter on top.....I’m pretending it’s a Reece’s peanut cup!

Celeriac.....who Knew? Any Other Surprise Delights?

I’ve been low carb for 8months & agree with you that some food is now just too sweet for my palate.....but I’ve also found that if I eat anything sweet it makes my teeth ache!

    Non diabetic Hba1c [emoji3]

Sorry for a late reply, I get caught up in a million other things sometimes! On diagnosis my GAD antibodies were tested as the nurse thought I didn’t look ‘typical’ type 2. Came back as type 2.

I’ve been on the Desmond course & a half day with a dietetic assistant to teach me what to eat...... I definitely learned more from this forum. I feel there’s a head-in-the-sand/fingers in ears approach to the low carb approach to diabetes & unfortunately it’s denying people who aren’t internet...

Thanks Guzzler, I’m pretty stubborn & decided I really had nothing to lose by trying it & if I failed then I’d know I had done my best & would be able to accept medication long term.

In the spirit of sharing success (& allowing myself to feel proud!) I thought I’d share my story. An ‘out-of-the-blue’ diagnosis of type 2 diabetes in September sent me into shock & a 2 day binge on self pity. The shock was that a) I’ve always been slim b) always been active c) seemed to have no...

Type 2 Exercise to carb ‘formula’

This question has been buzzing round my head for a while & I hope I can word it clearly! Roughly how much/long would I need to exercise to ‘burn off’ carbs? I’m following lchf & managing to control bg well, hba1c coming down nicely (2nd review since diagnosis next week [emoji50]) but on days...

Blood glucose higher in morning than bedtime.

Since diagnosis in September last year I’ve managed to get good pretty tight control of my blood sugars (4.8 - 6.8) with metformin, low carb & exercise. For the past 2 mornings I’ve woken up with blood sugars over 14. Testing at intervals through through the day show that the rest of the day I’m...

    My first clinic visit today

Exactly the same here! At my first review 10 weeks post diagnosis my Hba1c was down from 91 to 51, I was chuffed.....practice nurse just mentioned statins (I declined) as my cholesterol was increased!

    My mum's feet

This sounds a very difficult situation for you. When the District nurse visits perhaps ask her for a referral to the community occupational therapists as they can assess & provide (some) equipment which will help your mum access her property or just to be able to live a little more independently...

    Sharps boxes

I'm very recently diagnosed & slowly stumbling my way through the mountain of information out there! I don't have a blood glucose monitor but would like to purchase one so I get to understand what's happening to me....ie when I wake up with a headache is it because my bloods are weird or do I...
