    Whats going on ?

After months of a fairly low carb diet; no bread, no pasta , no pastries, no cereal, small amounts of rice and potatoes etc and getting my hbA1c down to 5.5, I decided to experiment with some high carb foods. Over the last couple of months it seems that no matter what I eat, my blood sugar after...

    Beer !

Its probably not doing my liver any good Kenny, but what I'm saying it doesn't appear to raise or lower my BS outside the 'normal levels'

    Beer !

I too drink an excessive amount of lager and red wine, I would estimate 40 pints of lager and 3 bottles of wine per week. I am type 2 and take 2 x 500mg metformin twice daily. My BS levels are always in the normal range (last hba1c 5.9) and I suffer no ill effects. Why is that ?

    Specialist Foot Care

Heard on the radio this morning that 80 amputations a week are carried out and DUK stated that 80% of these could be avoided if there were more specialist foot teams that could recognise the early signs of foot ulcers etc. Dont they realise that figure could be nearer 100% if the NHS stopped...

    Test confirmed

Hi Mistee I was diagnosed with sleep apnoea in 2009 and was given a CPAP machine with a full face mask to keep my airways open during sleep. It feels a liitle strange at first, but persevere with it and you will eventually feel the full benefit from undisturbed sleep. I wouldn't be without it...

Should I go on a DESMOND course?

100% agree with Truffle. I too went armed with information gleaned from this forum and had the audacity to disagree with most of what the dietitian had to say regarding starchy carbs etc. All of the other people on the course hadn't got a clue and seemed content with accepting the advice given...

Thanks guys. On my next visit I will tell her that I will aim to delay 'the inevitable' for as long as possible by ignoring the dietary advice :)

    Insulin - Is it inevitable

During my first visit to the DN she said to me '' Let's get one thing clear; you WILL end up on Insulin'' . Is that inevitable ? :( I am not following the NHS guidelines (starchy carbs etc). I am taking the low carb advice found on this wonderful forum. Have got meter / strips and my 2 hour...

Hi everyone Diagnosed 30th March 2012 after a trip to Cornwall when I asked my T1 friend to test my BS. When the meter said 21 I felt quite Ill !
