There are cases where a patient requires insulin for a period after diagnosis but then goes into what is called the “honeymoon phase”. Ask them for the antibody tests for type one and hopefully you will get a definitive answer!

sorry to jump on your thread, but your hba1c was 23mmol/mol! I did not know you could even have a hba1c so low!

@handicapable can you elaborate further what you mean by over prescribed. like they gave you more for the month than you need or they wrote down that you’re on more daily then you are? as a member of the forum we can’t give dosing advice but would recommend keeping your doses as they currently...

I find that I don’t get symptoms upto 15 mmol above 20 mmol I notice: - dry mouth - extreme thirst - weeing a lot - really tired - headache - feeling cold

yeh I also get awful headaches if my blood sugar is high x

@paulchew1988, I’m type one and my last hba1c was also 131 mmol/mol (how strangle lol) and I’m pretty sure I was told it was 14.1 % and equal to 19.8 mmol as an average blood sugar

please do keep on at your gp, and if all else fails, go to a&e, you could always attend a different hospital a&e if you feel your current hospital are dismissing your symptoms. I was told there was nothing at all wrong with me and it was all psychological right up until the day I was diagnosed...

I used to be fed via an tube Into my intestine (nj tube) and always crushed my tablets and dissolved in water to put through the tube as I couldn’t tolerate anything into my stomach

@joshluck , what meter is that? Does it check glucose and ketones from the same sample on the same strip? I would be concerned if my sugars had dropped from 18 to 2.4, did you have any insulin between 6.30 and 9pm? Has this happened before? Regards,
