    Metformin and anxiety

Hi, has anyone experience any increased anxiety with varying brands of metformin? My pharmacist has prescribed a few different brands of slow release over the last year or so and I definitely feel like different brands have a different impact on mental health it is that my imagination?! Thanks

    Acne side effect

I took Suharto SR for the best part of a year which with 1 or 2 tablets per day managed to level by HBAC reading to 51. The pharmacy recently prescribed metformin brand morningside and I’ve developed some acne. Could this be related? I’m 48 yrs old so not desirable! The docs think it’s a flare...

    Metformin, exercise and reduced HbaC1

Hi, you may remember I posted a few months ago about being newly diagnosed and running the marathon. They prescribed gliclazide which after listening to a few of you I didn’t take but changed my diet completely. My HbaC1 in April was 84. I saw the consultant on the 19th June and it had come down...

    Metformin and type 2 remission

So the consensus would be not to take the metformin, stay low carb, get the next HbA1c to normal and use carbs sparingly where necessary during the longer runs?

What’s the longest run you have done keto? And how did you fuel during the run? Or did you? Thanks

Thanks yeah I have. Very interesting. I’m actually up to 15 miles with just water and fasting runs pre breakfast.

    Metformin and type 2 remission

I was newly diagnosed in April as type 2 (although they’ve just done tests for LADA that haven’t come back yet). My HbA1c was 84 and they prescribed Gliclazide, which I didn’t take because of the risk of hypos when I’m running. However I’d been training for a marathon and consuming much higher...

New diagnosed with type 2 but running London marathon next week - advice pls!

Thanks so much for your words of advice lately. They’ve really helped. It can be a lonely place when you’re trying to figure out the best thing to do. My bgl went from 14 mmol in the morning to 9 before tea with eggs and apple and some nuts during the day on Tuesday. It rose to 13mmol after tea...

New diagnosed with type 2 but running London marathon next week - advice pls!

Ok - I guess the balancing is that I’ll need some carbs for the longer runs, even some gels, once a week. Is that why the doc wants me to take glic so that I can still train and consume some carbs/sugars? And is it possible to take glic just on the days you will be adding carbs or sugars to...

New diagnosed with type 2 but running London marathon next week - advice pls!

I’d gone zero carb for a week before the marathon and then had some carbs to make sure i was ready to run. Zero carbs for me means eggs, nuts, meat salad and veg. Although I did still have a few beers so that’s clearly not helped! It did drop a bit though to 9 at one point

New diagnosed with type 2 but running London marathon next week - advice pls!

Great advice. So you guys think zero carbs with maybe a glass of red wine each night should see blood glucose get back down to 4-8mmol?

New diagnosed with type 2 but running London marathon next week - advice pls!

Thanks both, the docs tested for ketones last week and it was clear. I’ll remove all carbs from my diet for the next couple of weeks (I do like a beer so will still have a couple) and I’ll continue to run but far less than training for the marathon. I’ve been warned about hypo’s and have a...

New diagnosed with type 2 but running London marathon next week - advice pls!

Hi all, so I got through the marathon. My blood sugar levels are fairly consistent around 13mmol almost regardless of what I eat with a slight spike to 15/16 a couple of times. The doc has prescribed 40mg gliclazide one per day. Any advice or experience of this at all please?

Thanks all for the advice and kind words. I’ve cut out carbs for now and do feel better for it but I think I’ll have some I’ve the next few days before the marathon and then go zero carbs again after to get the blood sugar down.

Thank you makes perfect sense but it’s hard not to question whether to carry on with the carbs.

New diagnosed with type 2 but running London marathon next week - advice pls!

Hi, I recently had blood results come back with a Hbac1 of 84. I’ve got a call with the nurse on weds by assuming that level is type 2. I’d like to lower with diet and no carbs plus exercise but I’m running the London marathon next week! I’ve trained so far to 23.5 miles with some increased carb...
