    T1 with Keyworker Partner (C19)

I think it's down to personal judgement and of course its not for me tell you what's best. When this Covid-19 thing first started we were really concerned (me particularly as I thought I would be sleeping in the shed[emoji3526]), but we've been fine. I'm still minimising my contact with the...

    T1 with Keyworker Partner (C19)

My wife works at a hospital looking after the nurses/Dr's etc children in the on site nursery. We haven't changed anything really. The only thing she did was when she got in, was to get changed and immediately wash her uniform.

Changes In Lockdown Rules for those with a Medical Need.

Diabetes can have a massive impact on mental health and wellbeing. I know once I've been out for once a day cycle/dog run I feel so much better for it and it helps with my glucose levels. Just for clarification, I'm not implying we bend the rules in anyway but curious what peoples opinions are...

Changes In Lockdown Rules for those with a Medical Need.

https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/breaking-change-lockdown-rules-means-21838155 https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-04-09/u-k-relaxes-daily-exercise-rules-for-some-cases-after-appeal I saw this article and wondered if diabetes would be covered under this rule given exercise can...

    Coronavirus

I'm similar to you in a way, I've had T1 diabetes for 44 years, and have always struggled to maintain "perfect" control. Just as I think I've got it right, it goes a bit wrong (not in a bad way). I'm struggling a bit at the moment with my control as I'm so out of routine, so trying to adjust to...

    Libre issues

It's worth ringing the Abbot helpline and they will probably replace the sensor for you. I had a sensor that kept reading a lot lower than it should. Abbot replaced it without any issue and sent a return envelope for the old one to be sent in.

Freestyle Libre App for Android? Which?

If your reader is not working anymore, have you tried contacting the Abbot helpline? They may replace it for you.

Type 1 What’s your time in target on your Libre?

My report would say "could do better", a few to many lows <3.9 but working on it....

    Insulin out of the fridge

I've never had a problem with insulin being not refrigerated. After all the insulin in your pumps/pens in not permanently chilled, my pump is kept in my trouser pocket most of the day, which is far from cool!

Accu-Check Aviva Insight - handset issues

Yes I find it incredibly slow and annoying to use, especially when you are in a bit of a rush. I haven't had to many errors thankfully. I'm grateful that I'm able to have a pump though.

    New to insulin pump

For general day to day use at work I just stick my work trousers pocket, I used to use a belt clip but find it easier just loose in my pocket. When I'm wearing jeans I put it the little 'watch' pocket next the main front pocket (as in the picture) then tuck the tubing in. At night I wear a...

    Disaster - advice please

I've done it a few times, if it's not my pens when I was on the pens, it was my blood test stuff, if it wasn't them is was my glucose tablets etc...

    Disaster - advice please

Not 100% sure but the pharmacy may be able to contact your doctor and ask them to send over a prescription for them to cover what they give you. The other option is go to the nearest hospital and they will give you insulin etc.

    Libre 2 first impressions

Not sure if the Libre2 has had the same update, but the LibreLink app and reader have both recently had updates which claims to increase the accuracy of scans. https://www.freestyle.abbott/uk/en/reader-update/support.html

    Blood Glucose Meter

It might be worth asking your doctors as they are often given them free by companies. The companies make their money from the test strips, not the machines. Bit like the razor blade and inkjet printer business model.

Has anyone here been a diabetic for more than 40 years?

Diabetic for 43 years now and luckily not suffering from complications.

Stress - can’t get sugars down

From what I've heard from other people, you have absolutely nothing to worry or stress about. It basically involves sitting in a room with your fellow speedsters looking at a few accident scene video/pictures and be educated by some person standing at the front of the room talking to you. I'm by...

Abbott To Revise Adhesive on Freestyle Libre from April 2019

Ah yes I remember reading somewhere about the Libre 2, so this makes sense and thanks yes hope it hope it does solve the rash issue so many of us suffer from using these (I now use a competed blister plaster as a barrier between the Libre and my skin)
