    1st Diabetes review(type 2) confused and a bit gutted

Hi everyone, had my first review with DN today since being diagnosed before Xmas 2017. Was really pleased my HbA1c had gone down from 52 to 40 and thought I’d get a well done after following low carb advice I got on the forum. I’m on metformin 2 x 500g a day and even though I told her I’d gone...

    Desmond course - Scotland

3 months after diagnosis I got my Desmond course today. Went in quite sceptical as I’ve read others experience of this wasn’t good and I have taken lots of advice from the forum. I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised, everything was very well explained in sections including the roles of...

Hi, I’ve been doing quite well with low carb for blood glucose levels but going to New Zealand on holiday for 3 weeks, want to enjoy my holiday but don’t want to ruin what I’ve achieved so far. Diagnosed before Xmas so first recall will be just after I come back. Travelling around the country so...

    Quorn

Quorn low fat sausages I use are 8.3 g of carbs for 2 sausages, nice for breakfast with scrambled egg. I try to stick to foods that have between 5-10g of carbs

    Quorn

Totally agree with jcbman, DM is well known for its sensationalism reporting. Quorn is mushroom based. Mushroom is fungi and some people can have adverse reaction, as they can to anything. My daughter is vegetarian and I’ve been cooking with quorn for years, just a bonus it’s also low carb

Can a lack of carbs be causing my constipation?

I take 2 psyllium husk tablets a day which adds just enough fibre to keep everything in order and prevents straining from hard stools

    Lower Carb Commercial Foods

Just wanted to add to this post. To all in the UK, have a look at the musclefood website. They do lots of nice lean meat at reasonable prices, I’ve ordered from them before. Was on today and put low carb in the search, a lot of good stuff on there if you take the time to browse, gives the carb...

    Lower Carb Commercial Foods

I think it depends on how much time you have, whilst cooking from scratch with natural ingredients is obviously best, sometimes you just need to be able to pick up something quick to go. I work 12 hr shifts and can’t always cook. I like Atkins crisp bread with pate or cream cheese and especially...

News: Jamie Oliver urges Government to ban selling energy drinks to children

I know this is primarily aimed at kids and energy drinks but I drink diet blue charge, Asda’s version. It states it has no more caffeine than a standard cup of instant coffee. Before I was diagnosed type 2 And went low carb i needed a couple of glasses of this just to function. I still drink it...
