    Neuropathic Pain

Hi Emma, Well I am STILL struggling to get my pain under control and apart from my endocrine clinic I also attend a pain management clinic. We have discussed everything from epidurals to quacky out there meds LOL However, I am still taking gabapentin on the max dose, I also take duloxetine...

    Pump power

Re: Pump power Nehhhh . . . . (That's my neither yes but neither no sound lol) . . . . . . Giving up a career path for anything is never an easy choice, but having lived with a pump now for over a year, if they said they were going to take it off me tomorrow, I'd probably turn up today to hand...

    discrimination law

Sadly the equality act is more a legal document than a medical one, but it has replaced the disability discrimination act and is meant to be suitably vague in some areas to allow the inclusion of people who would before have been missed out, e.g. Family members/children of eligible patients...

    Neuropathy

Wow your GP needs a kick up the backside!!!! your symptoms read like mine, apart from the bloods results lol. I have 3 types of neuropathy (I'm greedy hee hee) I still work, although it is a struggle and like yourself I am very sleepy. I take a whole host of pain killers which sadly only take...

    Lone working and Diabetes

Most companies will enforce non lone working if your diabetic, this isn't discriminating against you moreso protecting themselves should anything happen.

    Stressful job

PS Not going to name them, but my employers are fantastic with me, even going so far as to provide things that no-one requested but they thought may help x

    Stressful job

Hi Sarah1282, my advice to you is to self refer to the occupational health nurse. Firstly she will also help you cope with what you are going for but she will also write to your line manager clearly stating that you need a protected lunch break and time to take your meds, as well as time needed...

    advice please

Just I case any further absences are required, have you tried to go through occupational health, if nothing else it will back up what you have said and your employer also has to abide what decisions the occ health nurse suggests . . . . . . It may be worth looking into. good luck with what...

    Numb/sore foot

I'm greedy and have 3 types of neuropathy :-), I would suggest that if something is bothering you enough you go get it checked out. My neuropathy is a pain in the butt and would not wish it on anyone, and my advice to anyone would be to always err on the side of caution and get it checked.

    Spaced out feeling wonky

Sounds more like hypers than hypos, are you testing your blood? I know when I have hypers, it is as though I am drunk, incoherent at times and very tired/woozy, also the weight loss suggests that your sugars may be running high. Definately get this checked as if you are running high, or low...

    Pain Relief - Drugged Drivers!

I think many people will have differing views on a subject such as this, however as a driver and sufferer, and having gone through almost all of the same prescription meds as Sid . . . . . . I must say this: I fully appreciate that driving is not seen as a right but as more of a privilege, but...

    Scared :(

I agree with all of the above :-) I've been a 'pumper' for about 1 1/2 years now and although I have lots of complications the pump has significantly helped. It does take a lot to get used to and the first wee while will be a steep learning curve but after this you really do forget you have it...

    Pump power

Re: Pump power I never considered how pumps may affect things before (I am aware that this is slightly off topic but may explain restrictions etc) . . . . . I recently bought a new induction hob cooker and had to have it ripped out my nice new kitchen .. . . . All because of my PUMP !!!!!! The...

    Neuropathic Pain

Sorry, posted a bit early there ;-( I must admit that I haven't found pregabalin any better than gabapentin, although I have been asked to give it another 2 weeks. I had noticed a bit of brain fog but to be fair, I have had that for a while now as the pain seems to help create that too :-( I...

    Neuropathic Pain

It's scary just how many of the medications that we get from doctors which just don't work . . . . . To be fair right now I am willing to try anything. PS The taramasalata in my last post should have read tramadol lol. Dang predictive text xx

Hi all, Just wondered if anyone could advise on neuropathic pain, peripheral and focal. I have recently been prescribed gabapentin for this, any experience of this working or are there better options? Thanks, Elle
