Has anyone been on XPERT diabetes course

Thank you both for your replies. @Bigbumcooper can I ask whether the course is mainly based around what to eat and what not to eat or does it cover meters and the science behind diabetes etc (I hope that makes sense!)

Has anyone been on XPERT diabetes course

I have just had dates through for a six-week course - it says these are all three-hour sessions, week-day afternoons which means trying to get time off work. I just wondered if anyone has done this course and how useful they found it. I was diagnosed in January with HB1ac of 70 and have been...

    Can anyone advise please?

Thank you @ickihun but it’s really down to this amazing site, reading what others are doing, clicking on links and making lists and notes. Walked out of the doctors shocked, dazed and clueless apart from some vague advice about dividing my plate into three types of food! Hopefully, with a meter...

    Can anyone advise please?

Thank you very much @bulkbiker - can I ask how many strips am I likely to use, say in a week? And if I were to order the ten packs do they have a ‘use by’ date or would that not be an issue? Sorry for all the questions!

Thank you again - I have copied and pasted your reply into my diabetes notes so I have an idea what I am doing and aiming for.

Thank you Ragmar. Shelley, I’m going to order a meter - will probably be back to ask for more advice when it arrives ... clueless springs to mind! Thanks so much for all your help.

    Can anyone advise please?

Thank you so much Shelley - the doctor said there was no need to test as it can worry you more but I can see on here that a lot of people do and I can certainly see the benefits as waiting ten weeks to see if I was actually doing it ‘right’ was even more worrying I’d guess. Would I get a meter...

    Can anyone advise please?

Thank you Rachox - the advice on here is definitely very different to what the doctor and diabetic nurse suggested and the low carb option has seen me through this far and I will definitely stick with it. I’m sure you’re right that if I had been offered a course straightaway I could have been...

    Can anyone advise please?

Thank you both so much - I am hoping light nights and thus more dog walking and the great help on here should see even more progress - it’s not ideal to hear your doctor doesn’t think you can succeed but just made me more determined to be honest

    Can anyone advise please?

Thank you James - I am sure taking medication is not a bad thing but I have never taken any except the very occasional paracetamol for a headache and this has all come as a bit of a shock which I am sure is the case for everyone.

    Can anyone advise please?

I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes on January 9. I found this site straightaway and though I haven’t posted have followed all the information and advice. My HB1ac was 70 and although the doctor recommended medication and statins I asked if I could have three months to try to improve things...
