I use Hustle Butter, which is good, but not cheap. My tattoo artist loves the stuff, but doesn't recommend it because if the price. His go to is Palmers cocoa butter (the solid stuff in the tub, not the cream/lotion)

The itching is the WORST part of getting a tattoo! I do the whole gentle slapping thing to help alleviate the itchiness as well. That and scratching *near* the tattoo!

@mountaintom weirdly, I hadn't cottoned on to the weight loss until after I came out of hospital, despite the fact that my jeans were falling down all the time and one of my rings kept falling off! I guess I just didn't put two and two together! Trouble is, I wasn't watching my weight at all, so...

@Mel dCP it wasn't as big a surprise as you might think! I'd been feeling rough for a few days immediately before the hospital trip, but I had about two weeks of mega thirst and ALL of the trips to the porcelain firing range! That prompted a bit of Internet research and a trip to the doctors...

@ringi, I drink a lot of water anyway, but it was so much worse during the buildup to the hospital trip. Its definitely something I'm keeping on top of! Thanks for the advice about diet I had a mishap with pizza yesterday... Thats a mistake I won't repeat!
