    An amazing result

Had my 1st 3 month Hba1c done and she was very pleased with me at 31mmol (is that about 4?), which is not even on the bottom of her scale! To say I am pleased is an understatement-I have worked hard for this and its paying off. Thanks to all the help on here

How bad is this then? I dont understand

Just been away for a week with my Mum and Dad (they are a bit past going by themselves) and am shocked by my fathers diet. He has been diabetic (2) for years and has been on insulin for at least 4 years. He eats bread, chocolate like you have never seen, and anything sweet he can get his hands...

    Atkins shakes

Well becuase I am working in India this week, I bought some too (in powder form) and have been having the for breakfast and lunch. The only "safe" (bug wise) food here is usually bad food, so my options are really limited in the hotel Feel good actually and they do keep the hunger pangs away.

BG level after bad (naughty) meal........

I had a toad in the hole last night. I made it myself, normal plain flour and semi skimmed milk. Portion was not small either. I waited 2 hours for the inevitable "15" (or more) to show on my meter, and was surprised to see a relatively "good" 7.7. Whats that all about then?

    How long does it take....

Do you ever treat yourselves to bad things?

Do you all ever treat yourselves? I have been diagnosed for 4 weeks approx, and have not had a single item that would fall in the pudding category, and even only 1 slice of bread to see what happens to my readings. What I am asking is, do you occasionally have that bowl of cheesecake, or slice...

What the hell can I eat-India

Morning all Now here is a challenge for you all! I am off to India for work again, for 2 weeks, but what the hell can I eat? Now we do stay in a lovely 5 star hotel, which is fine, however, that does not mean the food is safe. Last time I went, I ate toast for breakfast, cereal bars that I...

Here is my update. 2.5 weeks after diagnosis

Well here is an update after 2.5 weeks since diagnosis! My random blood test (which started all this off) was 16 and may fasting was 10, so pretty high. The doctor said that if I was seen to make an effort to lose weight before seeing the DN 10 days later, then she MIGHT not put me on...

Yes portion control is poor in my house. Wife is a chef and makes WAYYYY too much. How much salad is too much? (lettuce, peppers and a bit of raddish. I ask because my lunch salad was big!

Thanks for the advice-I understand what you are saying re the carbs-however, compared to my fried breakfast/fast food/chocolate/puddings diet I was on previously  I reckon my calories have dropped by 2/3rds. What i struggle with, is that 2 itty bitty 2" crackers can be sooo bad :shock...
