When I was diagnosed, I was told by the doctors taking care of me "in ten years, there'll most likely be a cure". I was diagnosed 10 years ago this year...yeah, not looking likely haha.

I'm Cardiff based as well, would love to get involved in a local group - I have a couple diabetic friends to discuss life with, and a very supportive girlfriend who is always keen to see how I'm doing, but I'd love to meet more in the area, or even just chat online. :)

This is what I came here to say, it grinds me so much. I mean, obviously I shouldn't stuff my face with cake every day, but neither should the average person. It really bugs me when people a) try and dictate what I eat and b) try and tell me how to care for myself and my body. It's my own body...
