    Restless leg syndrome

Thank you Miriamhock and Robinredbreast, that's really useful information. My husband has been battling this for years and it's completely wrecked his sleep so he hardly gets any now. I'll get him to talk to a doctor about it - other health problems have been more serious so this has not been...

    Restless leg syndrome

Miriam - I'm interested in the type of drugs you take. Is it a prescribed drug, like gabapentin? My husband has suffered for years with restless leg syndrome which has ruined his sleep patterns. Like you, his father suffered from this problem too. Currently the best help he has found ( which...

T2s in remission from keto - how quickly did you adjust insulin dosage?

I have been type 2 (?) since I was 28 (in 1975!) so I have seen many advances in the treatment of diabetes, especially for women during pregnancy. I became pregnant at 36 and immediately went onto long acting and short acting insulins. It took quite a lot of effort to keep in control with the...

20 years old. Am I type 2 diabetic?!?!

Hope by now, you're getting some answers, but just felt like sharing my experience - diagnosed as Type 2 at 28, with many of your symptoms. Not overweight and have now had diabetes for 43 years with some health problems associated with it. But "if I had known then, what I know now . . ." ...

    Giving up coffee???

I'm obviously the odd one out here as coffee has a definite effect on my blood sugar control - the only problem is that like the rest of you I hate giving it up! When I have managed to for a while, mainly to help IBS symptoms (yes, it worked for those) I found that my blood sugar control which...

Pain in stomach when having a hypo

Just to point out I've been diabetic for 40 years, not overweight and been on insulin for years so I'm not really sure what "type " I am.

Pain in stomach when having a hypo

Yes! I used to get strong palpitations but now I know when I'm going hypo because I get really bad upper stomach cramps and sometimes nausea. I've mentioned it at the diabetes clinic and got tested for crohns disease but otherwise everyone is puzzled.

So what really causes type II?

Hi everyone, I've been interested to read this thread - haven't contributed more than one or two posts but always scan the forum . . . Just to add another dimension to why we have become diabetic - I developed diabetes at 28 while I was studying, that's a whole 40 years ago now. It was...

Your age when diagnosed with type 2?

I was 28 and not overweight! Thought to be triggered by the contraceptive pill? That was 39 years ago - been through most treatment options, diet alone, diet and tablets, insulin while pregnant, back on tablets, insulin again (several different types)! Despite constant monitoring and efforts...

    Leg cramps

I take magnesium tablets too which help a lot although I still get periods when my legs cramp in the night. Seems to go in waves with it happening for a few days and then nothing for a month. My GP said to carry on taking magnesium and to take a low dose asprin at night (instead of morning)...

To carb count or not to carb count

Hello I have quite similar insulin requirements to you - 10 Lantus and 2 - 4 units of Humolog (rapid) insulin with food and also am not sure what type I am! I was diagnosed 38 years ago when I was 28 as type 2 but fairly quickly progressed from diet alone, through various tablets to insulin. I...

    Leg cramps & Metformin?

I have suffered from leg cramps for years - used to take Metformin but don't think it's that as I have been on insulin for more than 10 years now. I find that Magnesium supplements help (one 375mg tab daily). I read about this somewhere and thought I would give it a go. My GP thought it was good...
