Libre 2 - no insulin calculator?

I've just moved from the Libre to the Libre 2 and was shocked to discover that there are no functions to help calculate insulin doses. If I'm in range then its easy to calculate the dose based on the three ratios that I have for different times of the day. Where I struggle is when I'm out of...

    Lost control

Thanks @EllieM and @Daibell How good are you about rotating your injection sites? Any chance you've got some hyperlipotrophy going on? No, I rotate all the time using stomach and both thighs Your signature says you are LADA. Any chance your honeymoon period has only just ended? I've been...

    Lost control

With the help of the diabetes support team at the Royal Surrey I've managed good control and had acceptable Hba1c levels for many years. That is until the last couple of months. On average my Novorapid doses were 8 units for breakfast, 2 units at lunchtime and 10 units for dinner. Levemir was...

Sorry for this question, but mould in toilet bowl?

Thanks all for your useful input. You have confirmed the cause and I'll try scrubbing the loo twice a week and see how that controls it. Struma, just for information, we thought about bleach but on a non-diabetes website my wife looked at people were saying don't use bleach as that doesn't...

Sorry for this question, but mould in toilet bowl?

I presume that this is due to excess sugar in my urine? If so is there any way to prevent it? Other that using a propriety toilet cleaner is there any better way of dealing with it? It appears 2/3 days after cleaning the bowl. Thanks, Robin

    Libre availability in Bristol area

Thanks Jaylee, we haven't found a house to move to yet, but when we can and find our local surgery I'll hope we can just transfer our repeat prescriptions across.

    Libre availability in Bristol area

Apologies if this has been asked before. I live in Surrey and get the Libre free on prescription. We are moving closer to the Bristol area (Gloucester, Somerset, Bristol itself) so I am wondering if there are any areas where the Libre will not be available on prescription. I've asked Abbott...

    Exercising with Diabetes (any advice???)

it took me a while to get my exercise routine sorted. At first I used to test after every exercise but my regime is now: After breakfast take two-thirds of indicated insulin Start exercise an hour later Halfway through test blood glucose level If low (less than 8) take some Lucozade, amount...

GAD results negative and left in limbo

I've been diabetic for about 12 years. Started on medication but very quickly that failed to keep things under control so I ended up on insulin. Like some of you I had a negative GAD test and very low C-peptide. My consultant said I was an "odd" case and that as my symptons resembled a type 1...

    Help with three questions please

Hi, I've trawled this excellent forum but been unable to find answers to these, so would be very grateful for some help: Q1: Is there any advantage to a T1 in going low-carb? I'm LADA with a BMI of 22, take insulin in low doses and don't need to lose weight. Q2: Have any of you experienced...

How often do you change your needle?

This is a response to Sam's question on how to carry a day's worth of needles if you change the needle after every injection. Sam, I have just spent two weeks on holiday and for the trip I bought a "Joe's Small-in-one" (http://www.joes-diabetes.com/diabetes-supply-cases.html). It has space for...

    Stevia - which one please?

Hi, I'm just baking WhitbyJet's Almond Muesli (smells lovely) minus the Stevia. I couldn't find any locally and was confused looking on the web. When the recipe says 1/2 tsp Stevia is that pure Stevia or one of the other products that seem to have bulking agents in them? Can anyone suggest a...

    Low carb & exercise??

Ed and Sam, thanks for your responses. I don't have access to a diabetic nurse and am a bit nervous about changing the basal whereas I tinker around with the bolus all the time. So I'll try Sam's suggestion first and if that doesn't work I'll try reducing the basal. Thanks Guys Robin

    Low carb & exercise??

Hi All, apologies if this question has been answered elsewhere. I've looked here and in the fitness section but can't spot the topic. So here goes: Do you exercise and if so what is your strategy for avoiding hypos on a low-carb diet? My exercise regime (cardiac rehab) is 10 minutes each on...

    Lizi's granola cereal

Not sure what's happening now. Had the granola this morning BG 7.1 before breakfast, just checked now and it's 11.3. As I've said before this diabetes lark is a really black art.

    Lizi's granola cereal

Hi Vicki, I've been eating Lizi's granola for about a month now and getting quite varied results. Best results are 6.6 and 6.5, 1 and 2 hrs after eating and 4.4 before lunch as against 5.7, 4.3 and 3.6 both sets of figures starting from 5.4 before breakfast. Activities on both days were...

    Low carb low fat diet?

Roy, what a hero, you've been through so much, makes my 5xCABG look quite pathetic. Thanks for responding, I'll try not to ask too many questions. Does your diet keep your blood glucose level or do you still have hypers and hypos? Do you exercise? If so how do you avoid hypos? I'm getting...

Yeah a section for type 1.5/lada

Hi, It's good to have a section for T1.5s. I think the normal expectation of someone presenting with diabetes when overweight and over 40(ish) would be that they are T2. I was diagnosed in 2003 and despite being normal weight and taking very low doses of insulin my GP has only recently...

    Low carb low fat diet?

Thanks Sam, I'll have to wait then. :( I'm going to try low carb breakfasts as that is where my worst problems are. I'll wait till I have seen a dietician before moving to the other meals. I guess I was hoping that someone who had bypass surgery and was on a low carb diet might respond...

    Low carb low fat diet?

Can anybody recomend a low carb diet suitable for someone with a heart condition? I note that the low carb info page says "People with a history of heart trouble may need to be careful about which fats they consume and may be advised to speak with a dietitian.". I've just seen my GP today and...
