Type 1.5 COVID and Fluctuating Glucose Levels

I have been sick, and even had a general anaesthetic surgery. Those did temporarily raise my levels that lasted a few days. What they didn't do is send my levels into extreme highs then extreme lows then extreme highs again, all within a few hours, which is what I've been experiencing.

Type 1.5 COVID and Fluctuating Glucose Levels

I tried Googling my question. What I found instead were some articles saying what you just did--some non-diabetic people ended up with diabetes after COVID. I don't think they know if the virus caused diabetes or if the person would have gotten diabetes later anyway, and the virus sped up the...

Type 1.5 COVID and Fluctuating Glucose Levels

I understand that. It's just I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in July 2018, and have been sick and stressed at other times (don't use insulin), and never had the wildly fluctuating levels I've seen in the past two weeks.

Thank you. I tried Googling this but couldn't find anything.

Type 1.5 COVID and Fluctuating Glucose Levels

Hi. A question for those who've had COVID. Did your blood glucose levels wildly fluctuate? I'm double vaxxed (on waitlist for booster). Two weeks ago I got sick. Test last week was negative. But I'm thinking it was incorrect. Since I got sick my blood glucose levels are all over the place...

    Heat/Humidity & High Readings

Thanks. Interestingly my blood sugar levels are decreasing after I eat. Last night it was 6.7 mmol a few hours after my meal. But I'm not eating much due to the heat, and it starts climbing again until it's back between 8-8.5 mmol. (I was only diagnosed in 2018, and last summer wasn't this hot...

    Heat/Humidity & High Readings

Ah, thanks. Unfortunately there's nowhere safer or cooler to put them, besides the fridge. It's not so much the heat, it's the humidity. I have to keep my salt and spices in the fridge otherwise they glue together and won't shake out. It's just so darn humid. Everything sticks together.

    Heat/Humidity & High Readings

Thank you. This has been happening since about the end of June. I feel fine and my temperature is normal. My meter and strips are on top of my dresser. Unfortunately everywhere in my apartment is hot and humid. The humidity makes the heat and dampness get everywhere.

    Heat/Humidity & High Readings

Hi. It's been very hot and humid where I live. Humidex values in the 40s Celcius. My apartment has no air conditioning. It's a sauna in here. Could this affect my glucose levels? They're hovering around 8-8.5 mmol. I'm on LCHF. My last meal was eggs and cabbage. I'm well hydrated with water. I...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.3. Stupidly proud of my body as I had a take-out pizza on Thursday and my BG never went higher than 7.4. I probably had 200 carbs in one sitting. Back to LCHF and had an extra gym (recumbent bike) workout on Friday. Even though the pizza was delicious it felt "empty". I don’t know how to...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Stuck on the 401 in traffic behind a salter? That must have been fun. No doubt it took a long time to get home. Thank you for the kind words. My upper left thigh and arm are very sore but it could've been a lot worse. This ice is tricky - it partially thaws during the day but then re-freezes...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Thank you. I was cleaning the ice off my car and didn't realize how slippery the driveway was. Took a step and boom. Landed on my left side. Arm and leg hurt, but I'll heal. :) And I didn't fall, I was "demonstrating gravity." :hilarious: What do you do when you're craving pizza? Order one or...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

6.6 which I'm happy and surprised with! I slipped and fell on the ice yesterday. Hurt, didn’t want to cook, so I ordered a medium pan pizza from a take-out place. My first take-out food in seven months since diagnosis. I ate the whole thing! Probably ate more carbs than I have in a week. Only...

    Stalled weight loss

When I first started LCHF I didn't lose a single pound for the first two months. My health was improving significantly but I wasn't losing any weight. I even started swimming 3X/week when I'd previously been sedentary. Perhaps I was gaining muscle but a 5'3" woman should not be weighing 194...

    Telling off for self testing

Aw, thank you for remembering. I went to my doctor and had a blood test done. Everything was normal, including my hemoglobin which was back up to 133 (range is 120-160). Maybe I had a bad day when I tried donating blood.

Wow how am not already fully diabetic!

Great job cutting down those carbs! I was diagnosed with diabetes and started LCHF in July 2018. Sometimes on grocery trips I read the food labels of different foods I used to eat. It's shocking when I read them now and see the carb and sugar count!

    Telling off for self testing

I had nine surgeries by age 21, and my opinion, as a minor undergoing necessary procedures, of the medical profession was benevolent; they did what was necessary and right for their patients. My recent diabetes diagnosis has been a massive shock to my system regarding the medical profession. If...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

I woke up feeling absolutely parched. FBG was 7.5. A little high but still within range. Refilled my water bottle and away I go. Happy Wednesday from an icy Toronto!

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.8 this morning. Happy with that. Greetings from a warmer, slightly-less-frigid Canada.

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Oh, no. I hope it cleaned up easily. Once I was walking around in a towel and bare feet after a shower. I didn't have my glasses on and can't see without them. I stepped on something and heard a "crunch". I thought it was a stray cat food kibble or something. Later I learned it was a piece of...
