Could I stop taking meds with these results?

And I've lost 26 lbs so far. Couldn't be happier with the results. I will ask my doctor what he thinks, have an appointment next Friday. Thanks!

Could I stop taking meds with these results?

I went from this when I was diagnosed on July 19th - HbA1c: 9.9% [NGSP], 85 mmol/mol [IFCC]; Average Blood Glucose: 273 mg/dL to this on October 11th 2018 - HbA1c: 5.6% [NGSP], 38 mmol/mol [IFCC]; Average Blood Glucose: 114 mg/dL I'm on Xigduo only, and of course I also changed my diet habits...

Type 2 High Blood Sugar After Exercise

I’m very unfit at the moment and yes my HR gets easily high. Good to know it might settle down with time and further training.

Type 2 High Blood Sugar After Exercise

Thank you both for your replies. I don’t find my walks to be too strenuous but it involves a fast pace and some steep hills maybe that’s enough to trigger too much glucose release into the bloodstream. Could the temperature influence it as well? Because even in the early morning it’s been hot...

Type 2 High Blood Sugar After Exercise

I've been noticing that after exercise (brisk walking, 30 min.) my blood sugar increases. For example, today I had 5.8 mmol/L before and 8.0 mmol/L after exercise. Doctors, nurses, etc. have warned me against hypoglycemia and told me to carry rapid-absorption carbs with me at all times just in...

Type 2 Something Odd Happened Today

Tested twice to confirm the result. Forgot to mention that I went to the shopping mall on foot (a 10 min walk from home) and it's hot outside. My anxiety just went through the roof when I looked at the glucose meter.

Type 2 Something Odd Happened Today

I’ve been monitoring my BG since the day I was diagnosed. Usually my BG is higher in the morning when I wake up and of course after breaksfast but it decreases around noon (80-99 mg/dL, 4.4-5.5 mmol/L range). However today when I checked I had 125 mg/dL (6.9 mmol/L) which I find really odd...

    Type 2 Quick Weight Loss

Hi thanks for sharing your story, it is very encouraging. Did you go to the gym or do any sort of exercise on your own as well? I must admit I’m a bit lazy to work out. And how do you count the carbs? Do you actually do the math based on the nutrional info of your food to know precisely the...

    Type 2 Quick Weight Loss

Hi thank you everyone for your replies and suggestions. It’s just that I tend to lose motivation when I don’t see quick results. Guess I’ll have to deal with that.

    Type 2 Quick Weight Loss

Any tips on how to lose weight really quick? I once lost 88 lbs in 6 months mostly with diet and 30 min bicycling at home but this time I’m finding it harder to put off weight after I regained those 88 lbs. I started taking Xigduo and dieting about a week and 1/2 ago and since then I’ve already...

    Type 2 Question About Carbs

Hypoglycemia may occur if someone drinks alcohol without food. Of course if you’ve eaten enough carbs the liver won’t be breaking down glycogen or making more glucose through gluconeogenesis.

    Type 2 Question About Carbs

I think it’s because whilst the liver is metabolizing ethanol other liver functions such as glycogen breakdown to glucose and gluconeogenesis are decreased or inhibited. This means fewer sugar released by the liver into the bloodstream.

    I’ll try that. Thanks.

    Type 2 Bedtime Snacks?

I want FBG and postprandial levels between 4.4 - 5.5 mmol/L. I’ve already managed to get that after lunch and dinner (only vegetables and protein). For some reason in the morning and after breakfast values are over 5.5 unless I don’t eat at all before bed or only drink a cup of milk before bed...

    Type 2 Bedtime Snacks?

I’m afraid of hypoglycemia. Maybe I have no reasons for it since I’m not on insulin? I also feel it’s harder to fall asleep if I don’t eat at all.

    Type 2 Bedtime Snacks?

What are the best bedtime snacks? I've tried different approaches and got different fasting BG levels in the morning... Not eating at all - 4.7 mmol/L, 4.1 mmol/L Cup of semi-skimmed milk - 5.2 mmol/L Cup of semi-skimmed milk + 1 cracker - 6.1 mmol/L, 6.3 mmol/L Probably none of the above is...

    Metallic Taste In Mouth

I've been taking Xigduo as well for a week now. My doctor told me to expect a few side effects in the beginning such as abdominal discomfort (pain) and metallic taste in my mouth. He said side effects should go away after a few days. So far I've only experienced occasional abdominal cramps. Both...

Type 2 Diabetes Nurse Advices, Kinda Confused

I also went on a low-carb diet back in 2014/2015 paired with exercise and lost 40kg in 6 months so I totally know it's true. No doctors or nurses, only myself. Unfortunately regained that weight due to anxiety/panic/depression in 2016/2017, sugar was like my anxiolytic drug. However the medical...

    Type 2 Cauliflower?

I'm not sure whether the abdominal aches and cramps I am getting are due to that or metformin however it's been since the day I first ate cauliflower to replace rice that I began feeling that. Now every time I eat it my belly aches. Do you also get this when you eat cauliflower?

Type 2 Diabetes Nurse Advices, Kinda Confused

Can't believe the nurse told me to eat Marie biscuits (about 4 biscuits/day as a snack). I read the nutritional info and it has about 19 g of sugar per 100 g which I find too high. Yesterday I ate 4 biscuits and a cup of milk at about 10pm before bed, woke up at 6am and my fasting blood glucose...
