What’s been your experience of your daily Fasting Numbers in respect of your HBA1C reductions?

I've almost given up trying to work out the correlation between A1c and finger prick readings. My last half dozen A1cs have been 29 & 30, which puts me in the non-diabetic camp (I wish!). My bloods since July when I came off insulin and on to one tablet of Metformin a day have been around 6.0...

    NICE guidelines & HbA1c testing

I have doubts about the benefits of the A1c for anything more than a quick glance at by the diabetic nurse, as I find they rarely correspond with my home blood tests. My last three A1cs have been 29, 29 & 30, which puts me firmly in the non-diabetic range. My finger pricks tell a different...

Poll: Which diabetes course(s) have you attended?

None. Nobody has ever suggested one. The closest I ever got was my review the Christmas before last when one of the nurses said she'd just been on one (which, incidentally, caused me to change to a low carb diet).

    Type 2 Hydration

I've been low carb since January last year and lost a couple of stone, so that's not a major issue. It doesn't help that I've had a foot ulcer, followed by amputation, followed by edema, so I've been in compression/a cast for nigh on 18 months, meaning exercise is extremely limited. The reason...

    Type 2 Hydration

That's what I've found unclear on most sites and when I've asked people. e.g. I've had four jumbo size mugs of tea so far today, which is roughly the equivalent of 8 normal size cups, but it's not noticeably reduced my blood pressure, so that makes me wonder whether it's pure(ish) water that's...

    Type 2 Hydration

I think eight glasses a day was the old belief. That seems to have changed now to take into account gender and weight and seems to be between half and one ounce per pound weight.

    Type 2 Hydration

This has been bugging me for a while. We all know that hydration is key for diabetics (and for high blood pressure sufferers), but what constitutes hydration? e.g. for my gender and weight, it's recommended I drink the equivalent of 17 cups of water a day, but does it have to be water, or can...

    A1c < Blood sugar

Life ain't easy. My last two A1cs have been 29 and 30, which is in comparison with my daily bloods which have been in the 6-9 range after an amputation a few months ago. Before I went into hospital, my readings were in the 5-7 region and, granted I've had a series of colds and sniffles, which...

    Freestyle libre for type 2

Very unlikely, I'd say. Although it's on the recommended list, the decision lies with the CCG and they'll do anything to cut costs. Many T1s can't get them, in fact, I've just been speaking with someone at the diabetic clinic at the hospital about a CGM and the chances for anyone are low...

    Cbd Oil

I Mod a Facebook diabetic group and CBD oil comes up quite regularly. I've seen the report mentioned above, but that's been the only one I've seen that relates to diabetes. Some people have claimed it helps them, some that it made no difference to their blood sugar levels. Are there any other...
