    Stuck weight loss

Thanks for the replies, it’s good to know other people have experienced the same! KennyA, did your periods of stability last as long as 5 weeks? I can’t exercise at the moment as I’m awaiting surgery for spinal issues, and even walking is painful, so I’ll try the protein and fat option. Are...

    Omnipod dash

Hi Nannynet. I understand completely your frustration! Don’t know how many times I wanted to chuck my pods and handset out the window, or stomp them to bits. Sometimes I could’ve screamed with frustration when tweaks I made didn’t seem to be working. But do hang in there, it’ll settle down soon. X

    New Pump advice wanted

I chose the Omnipod because it’s tubeless. I’ve been a bit frustrated at having to input data in order to deliver insulin, but this summer it’s changing to a closed loop system, which means basal blood sugars are kept in range (hopefully) automatically, just taking bolus for meals. I’ve had to...

    Stuck weight loss

I’ve been doing low carb -up to 50 carbs per day - for couple months and am really pleased with the initial weight loss of 10lbs within 3 weeks. However I’ve been stuck at the same weight for 5 weeks and I’m getting really frustrated. Is there any way I can kickstart the weight loss again...

Don’t you just hate it when people think diabetes is easy

You know what bugs me the most? Being told that every non-diabetes related condition I have is because I have ‘poorly- controlled’ diabetes. TypeZero nails it when s/he talks about stress. I’m age 66, have had T1 for 40 years, being diagnosed when I lived in Canada (which I hated). My life...

    Issues with Freestyle Libre

While on the subject of issues, I am having quite severe pain at the sensor site after three days of using my 9th. Tonight I’ll have to take it off if I want to sleep, and will phone the company for a replacement, as I’m self-funded. But another thing is worrying me; for the last few weeks I’ve...

Struggling with BG testing along with depression

Don’t know if it’s possible for you, but worth a try. I’m also in an area which won’t prescribe Libre but my clinic gave me a pack of one sensor and the reader to try out. I find it very good too. My DN said that the company does give samples to clinics so could you ask if they have a sample...

    Shower with Freestyle Libre sensor

Last week I got out of the shower and knocked the sensor on the edge of the door and it came completely off. Not sure if it was due to the adhesive being warm from the shower. I got no reply from an email sent to the company, so phoned them and they were very good about sending a replacement.

Data transfer from FreeStyle to iPad

I can’t find an app that will wirelessly transfer my data from the monitor to my iPad. Is there such a thing, or can this be done only in Windows? Thanks

Type 1 Why can't I handle colds any more?

Thanks for replying. I was concerned you may have thought I was exaggerating , but feel more comforted in seeing that others have had similar. I don't want to call 111 as I waited 6 hours in a & e last time before being seen and I just wanted to die. Feel like that now but at least am at home...

Type 1 Why can't I handle colds any more?

I'm 63 and have had diabetes T1 for almost 40 years. My management is good and control reasonable. I don't often get a cold but it seems the last few times I've had one the effects have been really bad. Instead of shaking it off and continuing with my daily life, I'm now totally debilitated for...

After effects of accidental insulin overdose

Thanks Azure, I will mention it. Maybe the nausea could be related to the problem for which I went to A&E. I'll ask about that too.

After effects of accidental insulin overdose

After eight hours waiting in A&E with a non-diabetes related problem, no sleep the following day to make it up, having to sort out Mum because she was assaulted that night, I was beyond shattered when I came to do my evening insulin, and got my doses mixed up. 36 Novorapid and 6 Lantus instead...

    Type1. Why can't I get it right?

Hi Becky. I've always found having diabetes so frustrating, and like you have been through burn outs. Recently I was referred to a psychologist who deals specifically with diabetes and COPD. I know you've already done this, and I've been to counselling and another psychologist who was...

    LCHF mystery, help!

Modesty007 - can I just check? 1g protein for every kilo desired weight would mean I eat only 57g every day. Doesn't seem much?

    LCHF mystery, help!

I'm in a similar position; started very low carb three weeks ago and apart from having sweets when having a hypo (3 times so,far), have stuck to it. Most days I have 20 - 30g carbs, usually from an apple in a Waldorf salad and some full-fat Greek yoghurt. Other days it may not even be that, as I...
