    Travel Insurance

As a diabetic on insulin and other medication I normally search for travel insurance when going on holiday, which can prove expensive. In the past I have opted for a company called Travel Insurance Web, which I found to be fine - but then I never needed to claim! Has anyone had experience with...

Denial - it comes and goes

Hi Pink, I fully sympathise with you! I too am diabetic (T2)m on insulin (5 jabs a day) and metformin. I tend to dip in and out of denial too, and remember my diagnosis when I denied it and even asked for a re-test! I felt non of my family members had the condition, and having just had a major...

How did you feel about switching onto injections?

I was having mixed emotions when they mentioned insulin to me. I was happy on one hand as I thought my hb1ac might come back down. But on the other, the thought of injecting yourself filled me with dread.

    Carb Counting

Hi Geoff, I've been on insulin for about 4 or so years now. But they have just changed the insulin to novorapid and levemir. A DSN mentioned it to me as a possible course of action if this regime of insulin didn't do so well. But no details were given

    Hypo but didn't treat it

I'm no expert but hypo's should always be treated, so I am informed by those who are paid to know. I sometimes wake in the night with a blood sugar that is in range, but when I get up in the morning it is high. I was told that it is because the body sends out a cocktail of glucose and hormones...
