    Support in diffferent areas

Diagnosed after 5 years; treatment has been bad throughout and has led to two BTK amputations! Old yes, but not elderly!

    Support in diffferent areas

Yes I am fired up, have not been happy with their advice for some time now. What i really need to know (prefereably from either an experienced campaigner or a "whistle-blower) is HOW we challenge the system rather than keep shooting down the poor pawns at the sharp end? The "dietician" i spoke...

    Support in diffferent areas

Dont get me started on testing; the "nurse" that attended today to give him his insulin thought once a day testing is ok???????? When i went to collect a full prescription of testing strips today for him (nearly run out!) they allocated one pot of 50 for 28 days....... That conversation to come...

    Support in diffferent areas

Thanks for the above, agree and concer with most of the points however the person is NOT capable of using internet hence why i am stepping in. Having been told by the community nurse this morning that "he only needs to test himself once per day" nearly made me explode with rage..... escpecially...

    Support in diffferent areas

I have been fortunate ( i think!) in my area (Norfolk UK) of getting excellent advice which has worked for me. However a relative in another health authority (Merton and Sutton UK) is getting what looks to me to be rubbish advice; what are other people opinions of the best way to challenge...

    ........aaaaand another one!

Given how "marginal" you are (not a term that is really used), dietary control is clearly a very strong option in my humble opinion! So lower those carbs ( i look at 200g per day but i am fairly active also!) Without a BG meter you wont know if it is working but i would suggest getting the...

Plummeting BS values - Weather related??

I am finding that my BS values have dropped by nearly 10% pushing me into two very low readings. As this is also generally acress the board for the last week without any other major changes in diet/sleep/working patterns I am wondering if it is possible that my already low insulin level (...

    Type 1 Novomix 30

Obviously I am aware that before use this is kept refrigerated but after an incident this morning where it appears my “in use” prefilled pen insulin failed to work properly can I ask how others store this during normal day to day activities and how long for? My low useage means I usual keep it...

    Coronovirus deaths & diabetes

Given the %age (10% i think) of over 50's in the UK with Diabetes (and possibly other medical conditions) it is not surprising that it is a high figure; the key information seems to be that well controlled diabetes does NOT require shielding or other such measures. Surely we know that as with...

Coronavirus and high blood sugar levels

Given that this is a new virus, ANY information could be useful towards cure/treatment and can at least be examined if its known about; specifics that could relate to diabetic patients can help us all; so its definitely worth reporting everything IF you really do feel you were/are suffering from...

confusion over 12 weeks or not 12 wweeks¬

I thought the 12 week letter trumped the "key worker" card.... If still confused, your own GP should be able to confirm, however the receptionist may not let you speak to them.......

    Sugar spike

Diabetics can have both HYPO- (think hypodermic needle, so small) ie LOW sugar HYPER (thin hyperdrive so large) ie HIGH sugar Both can be an issue!

confusion over 12 weeks or not 12 wweeks¬

we had a phone in with a GP on our local bbc radio station and the information she gave was actually FAIRLY clear.... Doesn't depend on type; if your latest hbA1C was OVER 75 then you are at risk and on the list. Only other caveat is that "other medical problems" may ALSO add you to the list...

is Homogenised milk better for us?

just to clarify.... Pasteurization is "cooking" the milk to kill germs and is the standard ( as opposed to RAW milk which is untreated at all) Homogenization is a process AFTER pasteurization that mechanically smashes up the fat particles (CREAM as it is really called) and re-distributes it...

Any way to stop these after meal blood sugar spikes?

Can i detect you only eat 2 meals per day from that graph? As a suggestion, little and often eating; have you had any carb counting advice? What about exercise? I find 1000 steps will drop my BS by one point.....

    Newly diagnosed with pre-diabetes

Well firstly many people at DX have MUCH higher figures than those for both Hb and BS so dont panic! Read all you can one Low Carbing it is definately the key for many many people on here and definitely worked for me! Also take care to remember it is a long race and dont expect instant results...
