    Struggling with insulin

Hi all - I have 3c diabetes and have been put on Lantus as I was constantly between 6 - 13 and higher through the night (Hb was 97), so the nurse is trying to get the levels down. I don't take insulin with food as my body seems to deal with that (except cereal the levels rocket with cereals)...

What are acceptable rises after eating

Food varies day to day due to losing most of my pancreas as I struggle to process a lot of foods. Because my pancreas does work at some points of the day it's hard to control. I have lantus which has brought the night time levels down but the daytime are all over the place and my levels rise by...

What are acceptable rises after eating

After eating what would be an acceptable rise before coming back down. I often go up by about 5 or 6. So tonight I started at 6.9 and two hours after was at 8.1 but it got to 12.8 before coming back down. Thanks

    Can insulin raise glucose levels

Hi yes I washed my hands and tried it on 2 machine, I also have the libre on at the moment so get a constant reading from that. It is still at 20 now and not really coming down at the minute. I'm currently exercising on the stepper at the moment to try and bring it down lol.

    Can insulin raise glucose levels

My sugars have always been between 9 and 11 so I have recently started lantus however this morning after having the same breakfast I normally do my reading went from 9.3 to 20.1. I have never gone that high before so was wondering if the lantus could be causing it. Any ideas much appreciated.

New to insulin is this normal

Hi all, I have secondary diabetes so 3c and after 2 years on metformin I have now been put on (background insulin) Lantus. I started a few days ago and also started using the Libre freestyle as I was a bit paranoid about lows. Since monitoring I have noticed the insulin makes it more stable...

I have 3c diabetes and have recently been told I have retinopathy and need to control my blood sugars better, however the Gp has said my HB has always been between 50 and 55 so not that high and doesn't think it's down to the blood sugars, my blood pressure and cholesteral are also well...

Can people with 3c control their levels ok

Hi, after seeing the GP recently she agreed that it's not type 2 and insulin will be the way to go, although at the moment she wants me to stay off it as long as I can which wont be to long as it gets worse each month but she seems to see every month as a bonus lol. Glad you're getting on with...

    Confused with sugar readings

It's catch 22 do I over work the pancreas to get more control the diabetes or try and look after the pancreas at the expense of high HB readings.

    Confused with sugar readings

Because if I didn't try and solve it myself and followed what the GP or even the recommended low carb diet I would have HB readings in the 70' 80's and 90's. It is because of what I have learnt I have been able to add sugar to get my Pancreas working better.

    Confused with sugar readings

Thank you, I will certainly give the Libre a try in the near future. I'm generally keeping well now just trying to keep on top of the diabetes, I also have long qt syndrome and have a defib fitted as pain and stress can cause cardiac arrest so I'm trying to keep on top of it now so I can try and...

    Confused with sugar readings

Sorry for the confusion, I don't take enzymes I just try and eat more pancreas friendly foods. I had severe pancreatitis oct 2016 due to medication and was in hosipal for 4 months and lost over 50% due to necrosis, I haven't had any surgery to remove the dead part as I kept getting sepsis and...

    Confused with sugar readings

I lost 55% due to pancreatitis and necrosis however I can eat without enzymes, although I do still get a lot of pancreatic pain especially after eating carbs.
