Poll: Which diabetes course(s) have you attended?

I attended X-Pert 6 week course run at a local community hospital in the evenings for 6 weeks. The nutritionist who ran it was very patronising and treated all there the same. The room was mostly full of diet controlled diabetes only, I was on Gliclazide at the time and she did not mention about...

Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

7.1 this morning, but I had a Chinese and a bottle of wine so I kind of expected a difference. Naughty me I know.

Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Reading back it must have been the hypo honestly, I hate housework!! To be honest I have been running low all day, thinking of stopping the gliclazide, I recon a week of insulin has given my pancreas enough of a rest and now it's working better, I am going to reduce the glic, keep the lantus and...

    Scary Hypo, advice really welcomed.

I did some shopping and bought some honey, and some sugar, since becoming diabetic I basically stopped anything sweet, to be honest I don't have a sweet tooth anyway.

    Scary Hypo, advice really welcomed.

Ha ha funny, my other half is going away tomorrow for a week so I had a lot to get through to help, plus he is ill, as is my daughter at the moment so I was trying to help everyone but myself :):)

    Scary Hypo, advice really welcomed.

Hi guys, I have had a few Hypo's before, I normally can tell when I go as low as 4mmol, I get a rush of warmth and breathless a bit, feels like I am a bit manic and over excited. I have had these when on Gliclazide and Pioglitazone which was stopped due to water retention. Anyway I still take...

Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Well done @kimbo1962 great news. 7.0 this morning, a bit higher than in other mornings, can't blame liver dump as the Bydureon takes care of that, but I did have wine last night, and normally wine leads to a bit of snacking so I probably ate all of the wrong things, PLUS I was awake at 5am...

    Testing Strips

I have been getting Freestyle Testing Strips from my GP since I was diagnosed, I get 50 in a pack and normally get this monthly. I don't think there would ever be any problem getting more, and I have had more since being on Insulin, but can you get them in larger quantities at all? Is there a...

Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

5.3 this morning. So pleased, still having some of the nerve issues but I can only assume the longer my sugars stay low, the less this will be a problem. By staying on the Bydureon Injections, these stop the liver dumping so I don't get a spike in the mornings which is great now. I didn't...

Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

Stress levels are reducing, only problem I have that remains is the issue with my skin, it's like some kind of reaction on my scalp and face, I look awful and it's embarassing in work. Have been given plenty of medicated this and that but nothing is working. I guess its just my body adjusting!

But surely cream does not increase your sugars? I mean I think I have read everything Low Carb and Cream unlike milk does not raise your sugars?

Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

6.1 this morning. A week on Lantus so far, still taking some Gliclazide and still on Bydureon injections but so relieved that I am no longer in the high teens and twenties. I even saw a 4.8 before lunch!!

Only just noticed this area of the forum...

I don't know my current BMI but it put me into the Morbidly Obese category. I have lost nearly two stone now in two months so I am happy about that.

    So depressed

Mandy really sorry about how you feel you were treated by your DSN. I can only think they must have been having a bad day. It is never ok to spend most of your day in the high teens. I have been fighting this myself and have finally got somewhere, but to be honest I went back to my GP and it...

Spaced out - is this Insulin?

2 x 10mg Amytriptaline every evening, taking this due to nerve problems in my feet, and to be honest it wasn't until I started typing this that I have realised this has worked well already, things have improved!! No longer can I constantly feel a jug of hot water being poured over my right foot...
