    Unexplained consistent night-time hypos

Hi Catman507, thank you very much for your response. I'm unsure if it is a basal issue or not to be honest. In recent weeks, it is the only variable that I haven't touched. I did telephone my DSN, and she suggested that I reduce my Tresiba from 26 to 25. I tried to refute her suggestion on...

    Unexplained consistent night-time hypos

Yes, it's quite common (according to the G6) for my blood glucose to continue to fall after taking hypo treatments. I have when symptoms become quite severe (i.e. glucose levels affecting brain and cardio function), over compensated on hypo treatment. I know you're not supposed to do that, but...

    Unexplained consistent night-time hypos

I was put on the metformin because my ratios were getting ridiculously high and I believe I was suffering with absorption issues. I suppose back then I was eating high quantities of carbohydrate in my meals, which would also account for high bolus dosages. I was easily injecting over 50 units...

    Unexplained consistent night-time hypos

Sorry forgot to mention that the Dexcom reading was corroborated with a finger prick test. I also rang 111 and had a lengthy conversation about it with an on call GP. I'm hypo unaware and don't really feel symptoms until the glucose level is below 3 mmol/L. Hypos tend to happen very quickly.

    Unexplained consistent night-time hypos

Thanks for your questions. I have recently lost some weight and have reduced my carbohydrate intake. This would most likely account for the reduction in the ratios. I've had diabetes since 1994, so approx 26 years. Most definitely not in the honeymoon period! Exercise is generally...

Type 2 What to ask DSN

Are you type 1 or type 2? This will have a bearing on the regime you'll likely be put onto. If type 1, you'll be put onto a basal bolus regime. You'll want to ask your DSN about the options for your insulin based on your lifestyle. The analogues work the fastest, but you may not necessarily...

    Type 1 LO Hypo

It's always sensible to test again to confirm the first reading if you believe it to be inaccurate. But LO on a blood glucose reader is almost certainly going to be < 2.0 mmol/L.

    Unexplained consistent night-time hypos

I'm a type 1 diabetic on humalog, tresiba and prolonged release metformin. Going through a period of self-diagnosed altered insulin sensitivity. For the past few weeks I've had pretty consistently, very sharp and unexplained night-time hypos. Very sharp equates to a warning at c. 5 mmol/L...

    Advice sought with my control

Hi Scott, Thank you very much for your lengthy and detailed response. There are quite a few responses which I feel you have probably hit the mark. I have decided that the basal could well be a little low, so have indeed decided to increase it this evening by 2 units. One of the...

    Advice sought with my control

I've recently started with the FreeStyle Libre monitor and am struggling at the moment to get my glucose levels into the "normal" area. I'm aware of the c.10 minute delay between the FreeStyle Libre (interstitial) and the tests taken via a lancet (capillary). I'm not currently 100% convinced...

Freestyle Libre Poll - Have you had a skin reaction ?

Thanks for your reply. So far it's got to the stage where I know that it is there (whilst they say you're not supposed to notice it). I'm thinking at the moment it is largely mind over matter. I'm sometimes wanting to pat it, but for the most part I'm avoiding the scratch/itch cycle. With...

Freestyle Libre Poll - Have you had a skin reaction ?

Hello everyone, my name is Phil. I've had type 1 diabetes for about 27 years. Only just discovered this forum and found this interesting post about the adhesive and consequential reactions to it when using the Freestyle Libre. The date is now Saturday, 18 May 2019 and according to various...
