    No change in BG overnight?

Hi, I rested my BG before bed and it was 11.1. I expected it would continue to go down overnight but it was exactly the same. Can anyone help me understand why?

    Confused about low carb levels

Thanks everyone. I agree, the NHS seems high but I guess it’s the recommended maximum and it isn’t targeted to diabetics. It’s nice to see lots of different approaches. I know I’m doing what I can at the moment and have an HBA1C repeat rest in a few weeks so I can see if I’m heading in the...

    Confused about low carb levels

Hi, I’m confused about what is a low carb diet. The screenshot about dietary levels is from NHS website and the other is from here. NHS recommend no more than 260g carbs a day but the list from here suggests that anything over 170 is a high carb diet. Is that high carb for T2 diabetics? I was...

    Increased carbs = increased exercise?

I would be interested in knowing this as well.

    Increased carbs = increased exercise?

Thank you, that’s a really helpful response. My bloods are still higher than they should be but they are coming down. I didn’t know about increasing muscle mass. So if I start doing more weights at the gym then that will help? I assume any exercise that helps build muscle will help?

    Increased carbs = increased exercise?

Surprisingly I had a roast the other day, I had one and a half roast potatoes (each was maybe a quarter or less of a normal size potato) and didn’t want any more. Instead o stocked up on low carb veg and was absolutely satisfied

    Increased carbs = increased exercise?

I agree it’s about balance. I’m not going to deprive myself but I am going to be careful and focus on eating healthily. Gradually I can see my blood sugars going down in the morning and I’m losing weight so I must be heading in the right direction

    Increased carbs = increased exercise?

I think that is what I got to a couple of years ago. I could relax my eating and everything was fine, then I got complacent. Then my mental health deteriorated and stress eating and here I am! I will say that going back to reducing carbs seems to be working even after just a short period of...

    Increased carbs = increased exercise?

So if your results are non-diabetic (amazing by the way) do you ever have a great meal? I did wondering your u should eat when you hit non-diabetic bloods. Can you relax a little but still eat low carb most of the time?

    Increased carbs = increased exercise?

I do appreciate what you said, I think it was just the link between an occasional desert or treat and complications. I know they happen but starting out (again) I need to know that I can find a balance between eating healthily and an occasional treat. I’m making big carb changes which does seem...

    Increased carbs = increased exercise?

Thank you for replying. Yes, I have a meter, I test every morning before breakfast at the moment but will need to get in the habit of checking more frequently once I am past my chest infection which has been dragging on for almost a month. I think that is affecting some of my BG readings.

    Increased carbs = increased exercise?

Thanks everyone. I do understand rough love but at the moment I’m being pretty tough on myself already so I have that covered! It’s really interesting and helpful seeing the different advice and points of view. Previously I have put my diabetes into remission, two years ago when I lost 4.5...

    Increased carbs = increased exercise?

To me it is a big adjustment. I don’t think it is helpful linking an occasional piece of cake with losing toes. Particularly not for someone starting out when it all seems overwhelming anyway.

    Increased carbs = increased exercise?

I do love a steak! Finding it hard to adjust to the idea I may never be able to have a roast again or a piece of cake. Trying to think of ways I can still have them occasionally

    Increased carbs = increased exercise?

Thanks everyone. I’m not on medication, just trying to manage through diet and exercise. The restaurant I go to is about 5km away and I walk there and back. Normally I have turkey, lots of veg, a bit of gravy and a few small roast potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding.

    Increased carbs = increased exercise?

Hi, I’m trying to work out how I can make realistic changes that I can maintain. I really enjoy a roast dinner but obviously there will be increased carbs as I want to enjoy my favourite things. This would normally be both my lunch and tea and I don’t have deserts or anything that day. If...

    Fasting blood testing glucose increase

Thank you for the advice and support. Maybe I shouldn’t get so wound up about sugars going a bit up and down but it’s frustrating as I always like to analyse why things happen. X

    Fasting blood testing glucose increase

I’m confused that my before breakfast train to did this morning is higher than it was yesterday. So yesterday I tested and it was 12.1 then today it was 13.8. I’m currently on antibiotics (second lot) for a chest infection that has dragged on for almost a month. I’m just starting again on a...
