Fasting blood testing glucose increase

I’m confused that my before breakfast train to did this morning is higher than it was yesterday. So yesterday I tested and it was 12.1 then today it was 13.8.

I’m currently on antibiotics (second lot) for a chest infection that has dragged on for almost a month.

I’m just starting again on a low carb diet. Previously, 2 years ago I had HBA1C reading of 8.7 and got it down to 5.7 through diet and exercise alone (I lost 4.5 stone) and so managed to get diabetes into remission. Then things slipped for multiple reasons and I’m back here again. I’m hoping to do this again this time without medication.

So firstly can me being unwell have led to this increase? What else can affect testing?

I’m feeling pretty low about being back here again.

Infections are the worst for making your bg go high, as far as I know they always do that!

And aditionally there are those 42 other possible reasons and a couple more, although you can ignore the ones having to do with taking insulin :)

And if all else fails in finding the logic in how our diabetes behaves, many of us blame the colour of our socks.

Good luck with climbing back on the wagon, and I hope your pesky infecion is on the way out!

Thank you for the advice and support. Maybe I shouldn’t get so wound up about sugars going a bit up and down but it’s frustrating as I always like to analyse why things happen. X
